major update problem

Steve-Hughes wrote on 1/28/2021, 4:44 AM

Every time I open Pro 18 it asks for a major update, if selected, this option downloads a 710Mb file then asks for immediate or later update. If the immediate option is selected it says it can not complete update while the program is running. If I close the program then restart it again goes through the same download sequence.If I choose to update later it still repeats the same loop.
So no update is installed. Can anyone help?

Try and use MAGIX Download Center instead. It's always worked for me. Be sure to check Task Manager that there are no VEGAS processes running. Try another browser if one does not download.

(See first though if there is an "Update.exe" in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\18.0)

Thanks for the help, I have successfully downloaded and installed as you suggested.

It should be simple, why MAGIX????

We have been trying to come up with a solution to this for quite a while. The most common cause for the delayed shut down is typically GPU driver related. We have implemented some patches to alleviate the problem to some level, but we have not been able to resolve it for every system to this point.

@VEGASDerek
Just out of interest:
Which GPU Driver? Intel, Nvidia, or AMD?

Any number of drivers. I believe the early culprit was an Intel driver.
