Markers Not Appearing On Imported File From VMS

BobWard wrote on 8/13/2012, 10:25 PM
I rendered my movie in VMS to MPEG2 and selected the "Save Markers" option as part of the render process. However, when I open the rendered MPEG2 files in DVDAS, the only markers that appear are at the beginning and end of the movie.

I have clicked the Load Markers icon in DVDAS, but nothing happens. The .sfl files are in the same folder as the MPEG2 and AC3 files.

I must be missing some simple step here that is not letting the markers from VMS appear in the DVDAS project file.

Any idea on what I may have done wrong?

This can happen if you change the file name?

File names are all identical and all in the same folder.

Bob,
what is the version and build of your VMS? Some older builds may have trouble with saving markers. See release notes.

Opening media in a menu based project?
Opening media on the media timeline (not the menu timeline)?

All versions of DVDA have worked with project markers at my end.
Sorry, unable to reproduce your reported issue.

I use Sony VMS HD Platinum version 10, build 179.

I have tried opening the project in DVDAS as both a "Menu Based" project and as a "Single Movie". Neither option brings in the markers from VMS. Same result when I just double click the mpg file from the Explorer box in DVDAS.

I will try another render in VMS and make sure that I have the save markers box checked.

Thanks.

Delete your SFK and SFL files - Vegas will create them new for you.

Just to bring closure to this post, I re-rendered the movie in Sony VMS, making double-sure that the "save" markers box was checked. Re-imported the movie into DVDAS and found that the markers came through this time.

Don't know what happened the first time to cause the markers not to appear in DVDAS. Maybe the save markers box indavertantly got unchecked - I have it checked as a Default condition, but who knows what happened.

Anyway, all is well now. Thanks for the responses.
