Missing Screen

EDIT- Quick Answer. . I used Search and found Ctrl+Shift with the Shortcut ( on Desktop) . . . this has restored a working program . . . but it's lost the list of Recent-Projects and my fav "Starter" which conveniently sets-up the Media Bins and my preferred Layout, etc - as well as some Project settings.

I use a Layout very similar to the Default and this works for me over the years... Now v12.
However, today I put the monitor off, but left the PC running ( there is no direct connection, other than HDMI, ).

[ This area has reliable ac mains supply via underground cables at least 5 miles of it - and I was working in my Garden, so am quite sure there was no Thunder /Lightning today . . . the Monitor was turned off because I was going outside for a couple of hours. However, the Cable-Internet was still connected, but I'm unaware of any "Background Progs" running - but there could (Yikes!) be a virus/malware . . . . but why attack just SMS . . . . the only Open Program... ]

On restoring the TV/Monitor SMS was shown at about half-size, so I enlarged it (Buttons Top Right ), although it didn't jump immediately. Then I thought I'd Play my most-recent Editing effort, but I'd use the Preview much larger ( by dragging the little dots near Top Left of Preview WIndow ) .... That seemed to be right as there was something on the timeline, so I could now see it much larger.
( Of course, some of the program is now obscured by the larger Preview window - but this is OK during Play.
On clicking on the Play from Cursor - Nothing ( tried again and again ). SO I tried the Play from Start - that didn't work either!.

Very odd.

So I closed the program ( It was saved Prior to being left, as I'd renamed the project and needed to do a minor Edit to create the (dot) bak file with the new project name.

On trying to restore the working screen to my normal layout the Preview screen disappeared . . . and as I could see no on-screen warning it was elsewhere, I clicked on View -normal layout (this is Not the program "Default" ), which I use regularly . . .
. . . . As I recall the whole program disappeared, leaving me with the Windows Desktop.
On restarting SMS the splash screen shows the programs loading ( Taking about normal time, as I judge )...and then it disappears.

Eh?
Yep, there is no sign of it . . . I tried Control Panel Display . . . 100%(default) . . . setting, as I usually set it to 125% - inspite of having a 40" monitor/TV.

So I'm wondering where it is . . . or have I killed it somehow ?

I'm having some difficulty understanding if it's just SMS that's "Gone Away" - however, Open Office loads and responds to QWERTY input and asks if I want to Save/Discard/Etc. when I close it down
- SO I conclude that Both that WP and this Internet-connection are OK, the issue is SMS.

Any thoughts?

Good of you to find the reset using Search to solve your issue. If you'd searched a bit more, you'd have found that it "will reset everything to the "factory default" state like when it was originally installed."

Btw, you'll have a better chance of getting a response, if you make a new post instead of EDIT when you have further info or ponderings. As you may have noticed, the post date does not update with the edit, so your valuable new info may go unnoticed.
