Because two days ago when I purchased MM platinum suite I got v17 ... no mention of an upcoming version ... now I'm being invited to pay for an upgrade?!!
Please note that the title of the new version is Movie Studio 18. It's coming from a different section of the company and "with the cutting edge video engine of Video Pro X13".
I downloaded the trial to have a look,it seems to be just like Video pro X which I have, trial of 18 now uninstalled.I recon Vegas Movie studio is gone for good.
I showed you that it already is, the link to the productpage in VMS 17 leads me to those Magix Movie programs
@j-v That's strange as the "Movie Studio Platinum Home Page" link takes me to https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-movie-studio/ which is the page I showed above which comes under Vegas. The first image appearing is different as they change. I screen grabbed the lady as a nicer picture!
You appear to be getting something totally different.

@j-v as you are one of the users of old VEGAS Movie Studio(s) and belong to the main target group, they want you to be aware of the new Movie Studio(s) ? 🙃
(Btw, I and I suppose others as well are directed to the same VCS VMS page.)
For the last month I was spammed daily by Magix for this Movie edit pro 50%... 37%... off , all went down the drain, I never bother to look.

This wouldn't be a bad deal if Video Pro X/Movie Edit Pro weren't so bad at audio editing. It's as if they didn't understand their own product line when they drag-and-dropped one product in for another.
End of an era.
Movie Studio Platinum was a pretty decent hedge against competitors, as it was a very healthy feature set at a really low price.
I wouldn't be surprised if it cannibalizing VEGAS Pro sales was also a factor, though I can empathize with the resource constraints involved in supporting two products for a smaller development team.
MAGIX really should have just axed this. They need fewer competing products, not more.

I use mainly Video Pro X/Movie Edit Pro (VPX/MEP) and I have done audio in Vegas Pro. There is not much difference but I prefer VPX/MEP for one main thing - object volume curve. A volume curve cannot be done on an event (object in Magix parlance) in Vegas.
See my tutorials on Everything Audio in VPX/MEP.
Perhaps you can explain what you mean by "so bad at audio editing."
With VP18, I and a few others complained about how the VideoFX tab, etc... looked a lot like VMS, and how I personally did not like it. I preferred the the folder structure of VP17 and before. Now I see "why".....
