Movie Studio 12 and NewBlue FX transitions

alain38330 wrote on 8/10/2013, 6:17 AM

I have been using transitions such as "NewBlue FX Box explode 3D" and "NewBlue FX Blow Apart 3D" with my Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10 suite.
When I load the project in my new Movie Studio 12 (64 Bits) suite, I am getting an error message indicating the transitions are missing.

Do I have to understand the VMS 12 release and suite does not support anymore these transitions?
Is there a way to connect the NewBlue transitions of the 10 release to the 12 release?

Thanks for help

They should be in your v12 32-bit, if you install that.
Do a search on this forum, Words 32 bit and User Name jetdv.

Read also the release notes of MSP 12, towards the end of Known issues there.

Ok I understand the story and I better understand previous vkmast comment regarding VMS12(64b) and VMS10 projects compatibility.

I have turned around the issue by using VMS10 to render the few clips with these transitions and then re-importing the result into VMS12...!

thanks vkmast.

alain,
you do realize you can use MSP 12 32-bit in the same way. The v12 deal includes both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and you can install both.

vkmast,

Compared to VMS10 (on my computer and for a 10 minuts AVCHD render), VMS12 is 3.2 time faster so I like very much this new speed probably due to the 64bits address.

I baught the VMS12 suite on disks and then I updated to the last 64bits release which led to some issues in term of file association.

Following your advices (thanks), I uninstalled the disk release and re-installed from the donwnloaded file using the authentification codes coming with the disk and it works perfectly.

Are you telling me that I can also download the 32bits release, install the suite in another directory (eg. Program files (x86)) using the same authentification codes and this, without any risk of interference?

alain,
yes. In fact, I have VMSPS 10, VMSP 11, MSPS 12 32-bit, and MSPS 12 64-bit all on the same machine and do not have trouble with that.

Btw, the release notes I referred to above state this
When using the 64-bit version of Movie Studio, third-party plug-ins will work only if they are 64-bit plug-ins. Please check with the plug-in vendor for available updates. You can share projects between 32- and 64-bit versions of Movie Studio installations, performing editing as needed in 32-bit Movie Studio and finishing the project in 64-bit Movie Studio.

Merci vkmast

I was unaware of these capabilities and possibilities.
I will install VMS12 32bits as soon as I will have replaced my 60GB SSD by a larger one (I become very short there in term of space).

Thank you

Have a nice day

Alain

I am coming back to this discussion after extending my C drive SSD to 250Go and after installing MS12 32bits.

The two VMS12 (32 and 64) are working fine together and I got the solution to my transition issue.

The only conflicting point I found up to now, is the following:
when right-cliking on a .vf project file, it automatically opens the 32bits one and any trial I did to change the file association to the 64bits one has been unsuccessfull.

I didn't find any obvious information within the Windows register (I am not an expert and don't want to guess and try here...).
I presume there is a link with the last installed VMS.

I just finish a test by uninstalling VM12 64bits and then re-installing it again so it becomes the LAST installed and now when I click on a .vf file, it is opened with the 64Bits release...

so when you install both the 32 and the 64 bits version, the LAST INSTALLED will start when you click a project (.vf) file.
