Normally is that you are asked after the program closes if you want to install the new update .
After you allowed it il will be installed after that.
If you don't see that, controle if you run the program as adminestrator of your computer and if Windows defender or something els is not blocking programs to download or follow things it tried to do.

See if you can find VMSUpdate.exe in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Movie Studio\17.0
