MOVIE STUDIO INSTALLED BUT WILL NOT RUN

northlaine wrote on 11/5/2011, 3:14 PM
I have just installed the software and entered the license key.

When I run the program I get the splash screen ok but then the program crashes and I get a message which says:

An error occured starting Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum
Error 0x80131902 (message missing)
Failed to initialize script host

Any idea why this is occuring?

I am running Windows 7 64 bit with SP3.

I bought the software from Amazon and installed from disk then installed the latest version from this website.

Still no joy.

Try uninstalling and then downloading the latest update (go to Support>Software Updates). Install that and see if it works.

I was just about to purchase the VMS Suite 11 on Amazon. The price was alarmingly low at $66. I checked my Sony email offers to see if there were any better offers directly from Sony for existing customers interested in upgrading and was shocked to see the list price at $124.95. How is Amazon able to sell for that much less? I know they are always discounted through the distributor but is it the same product even though it's advertised as NEW?

Hi Daisy33,

It is the same product. I (and many others probably) have bought there with no problem. Just be sure that you buy the version that best suits you.
If there's trouble installing, Markk655's advice is probably the way to follow..

I will uninstall and then reinstall the latest version and see if that works.

Many thanks.

Alas, did not work.

I have logged a question with the Sony support team, see if they can help.

Will report back if I figure it out.

Thank you vkmast for reply.

I just checked 'My Software' on the Sony Creative Software site and Sony offers discounted prices to existing VMS users for the VMS Platinum 11 and Platinum 11 Visual Suites, but for some reason not for the Production Suite. Not sure why not. Maybe I'll just order from Amazon as you suggested instead of paying $124.95. Thanks again.

Daisy33,
did you check what options http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/buy/upgrades gives you?
