Movie Studio Plat. 13 loops in "Creating Screens"

bansl wrote on 2/1/2014, 12:53 AM
I just upgraded from Movie Studio Platinum 10 to Movie Studio Platinum 13. (64 bit).

When I start it, the splash screen appears, and then the initialization loops (33% CPU Usage), the note in the splash screen says "Creating Windows".

Version 10 still works OK, but Version 13 will not, tried reinstalling, everything, same problem. I even left it for an hour, still looping.

I created a problem ticket for the support dept., no reply yet, but I wondered if anyone had/fixed this problem.

Windows 8,1 is the OS.

Thanks,

Bryan.

Just a guess - do you have the latest Quicktime installed? Past versions of Movie Studio have been very sensitive to this.

FYI I installed MS13 on my 8.1 laptop yesterday with no problems - but before doing that I used Uninstaller Pro to completely uninstall my previous MS12 version.

Thanks for the info., but I do not have Quicktime installed.

I have not uninstalled MS10 yet, as I need it to work on my current projects.

However, I guess that I could temporarily uninstall it, and probably uninstall MS13, and then re-install it

I will give it a try tomorrow.

Thanks,

Bryan.

I tried uninstalling both MS10 and MS13, using installer-Pro.

Rebooted, installed MS13, started it up, entered the serial# etc., but it still stops at "Creating Windows".
Sits there using about 30% of the CPU.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks,

Bryan.

Did you install Quick Time? That seems to be an issue over and over again. Got to keep it current.

Other than the QT that D7K mentions, you could check System Requirements in v13 release notes to see if there'd be something there.
Btw, my MSPs (10 to 13) work OK with QT v.7.6.9. Win7.

Having same problem here: When I start it, the splash screen appears, and then the initialization loops (33% CPU Usage), the note in the splash screen says "Creating Windows". Opening task manager shows that Movie Studio 13 is running but it just hangs at that message.

Using Quicktime 7.7.4
Win 7 64

"Bump"

Hey, here's two of us that have the exact same problem with trying to get Movie Studio Plat 13 to run. I have sent email to Sony. No answer yet.

SOLVED! Removed New Blue Title program and Movie Studio Platimum13 loaded finally.

Yes, this was solved earlier. A quick search using the forum search on the words "Creating screens" would have pulled it up.

@vkmast..."Use the search, Luke. Use the search."

I hope that the OP will confirm this solves his problem as well.
Need to know if he installed the NBFX13 add-ons, because the VMSP 10 NBFX (32 bit) don't interfere with MSP 13 64 bit (or 32 bit, where they are available).

Markk,
this is from another forum on the subject.
"Re: Movie Studio 13"

I agree that the link to the thread with your solution should have been posted here.

+100 (again) for using "Search". Even I use it and have in fact occasionally been criticized for linking to earlier/other threads in my posts :)
"The Search will be with me..."
P.S. Luckily, I did watch **** Wars for awhile, so I didn't need to "Search" that ;)

I wasn't reminding you to use the search function, it was the OP....

Reminding you to use the search function is like asking musicvid to a)whether to install K-lite or another codec pack or b )to use MediaInfo. :)

It is amazing how many issues can be solved using the good advice.

Sorry I have not visited for a while.

I guess that there are several reasons out there why VMS13 may not load.

After trying many things that a very helpful guy in VMS Tech support suggested - I found the answer to the problem myself.

I use a second monitor hooked up to the PC with a DisplayLink Plugable UGA-125 USB Adapter. Works great with VMS Plat, 10, but VMS Plat. 13 will not start.
Just unplugging the adapter is not enough, the DisplayLink driver must be completely uninstalled.
So, I can either have VMS 10 with two monitors, or VMS 13 with one monitor.

Waiting for a reply from Plugable's tech support.

Thanks to all who contributed.

Bryan.

It would have been helpful if you had told us that in your first post. But it does look like you may have a different problem. Do you have any new blue software installed on that computer?
