Movie Studio Platinum stopped working

I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16. I just upgraded, downloaded and installed version 18... but I haven't opened it yet.
I am in a mad crush (work related) to edit a conference video (an MP4 I created) using 16... but it's not rendering an MP4 file as I would expect. When I try to play it, it gives an error saying it can't recognize the file.
Is this because version 16 will no longer work since I've downloaded 18? I don't want to take the time to learn 18. I need to do this editing now.
Should I uninstall the 18 upgrade? Will that allow 16 to work?
Thanks.

18 is not related to 16, it's totally different product.

"it's not rendering an MP4 file as I would expect" , what is going on during render?

Your VMS16 should be unaffected by MMS18. As FayFen said it is a different product based on Magix Movie Edit Pro. Even if it wasn't, different versions of VMS can reside and work on your pc. I have both VMS16 and VMS17 here.

Thank you. I think I figured out why my VMS 16 wasn't working.
So what is MMS18? ... now that I have it! I don't see anything about movie studio 18 on Youtube, or even doing a general search (outside of the Vegas software website. I see lots of tutorials on VMS 16 & 17, but not 18.
