Moviong Clips from Project Media Window

When load a clips into the Project Media Window they all end up on a track. How Can I prevent this automatic loading to a track? I want to select what goes where. I noticed the track is armed. How can I unarm it so this will not happen?
I just experimented with Explorer and found that I can get around the problem by using it but, is there another way?

How are you adding the files to your Project Media panel?

There are several ways to do it.

I was using the "Folder" icon upper left right. However, when using the "Explorer panel everything works well. I don't want a lot of clips loaded at once. Explorer is the way to go for me. Any additional info would be appreciated.
Is there such a thing as disarming a track?

pepegot1,
you can also use Project / Import Media... to get your clip/s to the Project Media panel and do what you want from there.

What do you mean by disarming?
From the manual:
"Select the Arm for Record buttons on the tracks where you want to record. Arming a track enables it for recording.
When a track is armed, the track meter displays the track's levels."

By disarm I mean remove the white light near the track number and leave it bare. I think this is a non issue as I see that it changes from track to track.
The Project Import media works as you said. Thanks again. I am beginning to get the hang of it. I have had the program for a week.
