mp4 import, no video track and render query

When I drag the mp4 file from the media bin onto the timeline, I only get the audio track.

I have changed the file type to .mov which seems to work but when I try to save the movie it seems it will only go up to 720x480.

Can you not get any higher resolution with Movie Studio?

We need complete source media details to be of any help here. "mp4" can be any number of codec combinations.

MediaInfo is a free download from Sourceforge. Take care not to install any bundled apps.

Also your exact version of Movie Studio

Movie Studio Platinum 13 handles up to 4K, depending on your source, of course.

I would add.....if you are getting audio, no video, you are missing a codec the video requires, as in the link provided by vkmast.

If you provide additional information, such as what type camera/device you recorded the video with and which format it would be very helpful. As Musicvid10 suggested, using MediaInfo (text mode) and post the result here will be more helpful to help.

If you need to use a third party program to transcode to a format for which Sony likes, Handbrake is a free download and free program, as well as Any Video Converter.

I would not install any codec's from the web such as k-codec, as it has been known to over-right other important codec you need. If you install codec from the web it is best to know it is safe, by asking here.
