MS 13 Stabiliser

Jack S wrote on 2/19/2014, 6:32 PM
I've just upgraded to MS13 Suite and am trying to familiarise myself with it after working previously with V11. I heard a lot about how good the Sony Stabiliser plug-in was and tried it on an event in a project saved with V11. After adding the effect I couldn't do anything with the plug-in properties window except change the stabiliser preset. Everything seemed to be greyed out and I couldn't move the sliders.
Is there something simple I've missed?

The best stabilizer in MS 13 suite is the BCC Optical Stabilizer. The Sony one, not so much. The BCC OS is a beast with about lots of configuration choices. Read the help file, do some testing and you will be rewarded.

Thanks vk. Got it. I was selecting Video Event FX and not Media Event FX. I'll read the explanatory notes more carefully in future. Thanks again.

D7K, is the BCC stabiliser the Boris one? I haven't installed that yet so I'll look forward to experimenting with it. Thanks.

It should have installed automatically when you installed MS 13 Suite.

The BorisFX video effects units for the 13 Suite are in a separate file named mss13-bcc8units.exe. BorisFX Units are available for 64-bit operating systems only.
FXHome/HitFilm video effects install with Suite (and Platinum, according to the comparison table), 32-bit and 64-bit.

Not for me, TreeTops. I've had to install from the downloaded file.

D7K. I've just had a play with the optical stabiliser. My camcorder has a very effective optical stabiliser but some of my clips suffer from 'wandering'. Using the 'Translation + Rotation + Zoom' Stabilise drop-down option does a very good job of freezing the clip. I particularly like how the clip doesn't need analysing again each time a parameter is changed. Worth the upgrade to 13 just for this feature!

I downloaded mss13-bcc8units. But in MS13 it seems that the BCC plugins are just a evaluation version - where do I find my key ? I bought the update for MS 13 suite online at sony.com
