MS12 Suite - What should I get in the 'box'?

John Roberts wrote on 3/9/2013, 7:17 AM
Hi all - I've decided to plump for the MS12 Suite, purchasing the boxed version with 2 DVD-ROMs and the additional NewBlueFX titles etc through Amazon...

However, what I've received is a cardboard sleeve with a single DVD-ROM, marked OEM, with no 3D glasses, installation guide or anything other than a slip of paper with the serial number on. I've not tried to install it on my system because I don't want to register it if it's incorrect.

I assume I should've received a little more...?

Regards - John

John, you probably got the Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 OEM Slip Sleeve version.
The full packaged version would be this

Note: there are reports of MSP12 disc version installer being faulty, so download and install the latest download version from this site instead. You can use the package serial number.

Thanks vkmast - to my rescue yet again!

Am I getting everything I've paid for in the OEM single disc version? i.e. all the extras - Red Giant Quick Looks, NewBlueFX, tutorials and the 50 royalty-free music tracks? If so, why do Sony issue the boxed version on 2 discs instead of 1? I certainly didn't get the 3D glasses - not that I'm bothered about them anyway - but I feel a bit 'cheated' since I was expecting a boxed 2-disc package as that was what was advertised...

John,
I agree, amazon.co.uk shows the original package, not the OEM sleeve version.
May be SCS stopped shipping the original package to retailers and replaced it with the OEM?
Here's which applications should be included

I suppose there's only one way to find out...

I've inserted the disc, then selected browse. All I can find is Audio Studio, DVD Architect and Movie Studio, then in the Extras folder there is Microsoft .Net Framework and that's about the lot.

No sign of any extras whatsoever in any of the folders apart from the Jump Start tutorials.

Now, I don't know whether the 'extras' are part and parcel of the installation and they'll suddenly appear when I run MS or SF, but I'm a little loathe to install the software in case they're not in there and the vendor refuses to exchange the disc because it's already been registered.

So disappointed...

John,
it seems you didn't get what you ordered, so...

Sorry for the late reply, I've been waiting for confirmation from the seller. They are going to replace the OEM slip version with the full boxed product and refund the return postage. It's just a shame I couldn't have first time around what I ordered in the first place.

Hope this helps other people who might receive the wrong packaging and contents!

Hi! I'm having the exact same issue...ordered online...got the same 1 DVD sleeve!...this seems like a scam?!...John, just wondering if we both ordered from the same seller? they SHOULD be sending the second DVD right? Would I be best requesting the boxed version?? there's no mention on their site that I would be receiving some OEM version of the software.

Thanks!

I though I was buying the "Flatpack" Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite 12 but got sent an OEM version with a single CD!

You need to complain to your retailer that it's not the "suite" version with only one CD!

I did and was given a code to download the rest of the suite from...

www.sonycreativesoftware.com/esd

However this doesn't solve the problem of no 3D glasses if you thought you bought the retail box version.

Good luck.

A bit late here, but I also purchased the "Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite 12" through Amazon (in the US) - they indicated it was coming from "TopGoods". I did indeed receive the boxed version with the glasses etc in the box as advertised. Just a data point.
