MS13 Upgrade Price

GBR wrote on 1/27/2014, 12:00 AM
Nice offer from Sony to upgrade to MS 13 Platinum at a reduced price of US$37.46 rather than the normal upgrade of US$ 49.95.
Trouble is when attempting to purchase, the reduced price is nowhere to be found and only the full upgrade price of US$49.95 is offered.
Sony, any chance you can fix this before the offer expiry date of 28 Feb is reached.

You did attempt to purchase the upgrade "directly from Sony Creative Software via links in the email."?
According to the SCS email it is only those links that offer the special upgrade price. They worked here. You might contact Support/new Live Chat if you're not getting the right price.

Thanks vkmast,
I did that, direct from the link. Initially the reduced price was shown but when I clicked "add to cart" the account page opened with the full price listed.
Maybe it is something to do with me being a non - US customer.

I'm a non-US customer as well. Did you try to "continue" anyway and maybe get the upgrade offer code at a later stage? You can always return and cancel.

Thanks again. Did all that, right up to the final stage of confirming purchase. Still no offer code for the reduced price. I'll give it a few days then try again. If no good then, I'll probably just forget about the discount - the full upgrade price is not too bad anyhow. Regards, GBR

Where's my email about a cheaper upgrade price :(

I currently use MS 12 and do get emails from Sony...but apparently not the reduced price upgrade one :(

I bought it for the full upgrade price and two days later got the Email with the special offer, bit of a bummer.

@Scottish, If you registered MS, go to the My Account link at the top of the page and choose My Software. In the Upgrades section, it will show the full upgrade price but after you click on the Buy Now link, the discounted rate will be shown.

For those looking at upgrades, log into the forum then try this link:
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/buy/upgrades

That page shows you other options than what you get from the "My Software" page. For example, it shows I can upgrade from an old copy of Movie Studio Platinum to MS13 Plat for $37.46, OR I can upgrade it to the MS13 Suite for $59.96. These are the discounted prices, and they show (for me) right on the web page. I clicked through to put it in my cart and it still showed the 59.96 price, but I haven't actually pulled the trigger yet.

By the way, that link isn't a secret or anything. You can get to it by clicking "Purchase" at the top of this page, then "Upgrades". You have to have a registered copy of Movie Studio, of course.

UPDATE: Trying the same thing from my computer at work, Jan 30th, I am logged in, but the page shows me the standard pricing. Even adding it to the cart here doesn't show the reduced price. Puzzling...

Just to complete this issue. I gave up trying to get the on-line system to work and rang Sony Creative Software. No drama at all, a few minutes in total and I had purchased the download version at the discounted price. An e-mail arrived with my purchase confirmation and serial number while I was still talking to the Sony rep.

@MSmart - I tried as you suggested, but no, it keeps the $49.95 price all the way through.

Scottish,
you could try to grind the axe through the new Live Chat. See Support.

I had the same trouble. In the end, I just went straight from the offer in my email, and then it worked. Hope this helps!

Mogul,
that's the procedure which is supposed to work (see 2nd post in this thread).
It did work for me, when I upgraded.
Unfortunately, there are known instances where it's failed.

I've actually decided not to upgrade. I'm on MS12 right now and there's not enough reason for me to move up (plus I don't like the look of all the big buttons and menu changes)
