"MXF OP-Atom" in Magix Vegas Pro 16

ilona-k wrote on 9/15/2018, 11:29 AM

Hello,

Maybe someone could help me again with one interesting and important question?

I wanted to know does Magix Vegas Pro 16 opens mxf files (I have a video in "MXF OP-Atom" format) and I don`t want to encode it to some other format to open it in Vegas (don't want to loose the quality). Maybe there are some ways how it is possible to open it there?

Thank you in advance,
Ilona. 😉

bitman, your answer is quite strange.

What for I need to ask such question, if I don`t have Vegas? Just for fun?

I already have Vegas, but mxf file don't opens. I just want to know is it possible to open it somehow in Vegas (maybe I`ve some problems with Vegas or I need to change something in preferences or it is just impossible and that`s all). So, if it is impossible to open it in Vegas, so what is other ways to open my video in Vegas (from mxf file, WITHOUT losing quality)?

Thank you again for the answer, bitman. It was quite informatic.

Start with this link. Provide C1-C3 and someone will help you.

@ilona-k Even though you mention in your other topic on this forum that you do have Vegas Pro 16, it cannot be deduced from your initial post in this thread. There are frequently questions asked here before purchasing about the new version's features and restrictions. It's not strange here or elsewhere that using the trial is advised as a good way to test for yourself and avoid disappointment.

And welcome to the forum!

I you have tried to open the MXF file and it doesn't open, then you may have to transcode - you can use a LOSSLESS / visually lossless format to avoid quality loss. e.g MagicYUV, Cineform.

You should still provide the info JD has asked for; there may be an exception / workaround / missing codec.

I suggest to rewrap your file to mxf op1a instead using bmx tool.

I use BMX tools for fixing my bicycle 😛…..

(Good suggestion!)

Is there a place that describes/explains what that tool does and how it is used? The link says nothing other than you can download something.

@ilona-k - You asked this over on the COW. And I answered you to the best of my abilities and included some useful links: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/1022402

VP16 Build261 opens and plays nicely with my MXF Media. Your "MXF OP-Atom" file is a strange beastie.

It's also on MSZ forum currently.

@Kinvermark If you don't know, don't comment.

That's a command line program specialized for mxf file. You can find hiw it works by typing -help or -h (I'm not in front of my computer) in a command prompt.

@GJeffrey Wow, did you actually take offense at my comment? None was intended; I just found the name funny - is that OK by you boss?

@Kinvermark No offence taken, I just woke up, not the best time 😉
