This might be early to say, but with the last version, it seemed to crash almost every time I called up the render dialog. I would have to start a brand new project, add a video track, call up the render dialog, quit, load the project I wanted to render again, then it would render.

I have called up the render dialog five or six times in a row now with no crashes. If that is the only change, count me as a happy one! :-)

Vegas is a very advanced program - one month advanced, to be precise. The release date on the download page is May 4, 2013.

This might be premature, but if you're using VP12 with a non-administrative account, before you install the upgrade you might try (a) make the account you intend to use VP12 under a member of the local Administrators group, log out and back in again (b) run the upgrade and run VP12 once, then exit, and finally (c) remove your account from the local Administrators group, log out and back in again.

This worked wonderfully for me with the last upgrade, haven't had a crash since.

whoopie-doo-dah! or some alternative expletive....

ushere, are you talking about the problem with having the project media tab open? I haven't used it in quite awhile because of the problems with it but I do miss it so. Hoping that's what you're referring to.

Ok, I did the old clone trick and installed 563.

Short tests are fine so far. I will need to do some long test on 2 hour projects.

Just for kicks I tried the latest Nvidia driver and as usual it was bad. So even with 563 I will stay with the 296.10 driver.

So now more tests with the new BETA 563 build.

If you could see me while I type this stuff you would see me giggling and laughing a bit while I do.

Have fun ya'll!!!

Ram preview set to 0 bug (to fix preview stutter) is not fixed? I hope it is or will be soon.

lol, awesome! Downloading it now, even though I hate to update in the middle of a project some temptations are to strong to deny =)

Thanks for the heads up ushere, will letcha know if I get the same result that you've had, fingers crossed!

Okay, only five minutes in, I do have project media open and have closed and reopened the project seemingly without issue. I'll also say that it "feels" a little faster both in opening Vegas and in playback.

One other thing it looked like it fixed but apparently isn't is that, if I try clicking on media to preview it in explorer Vegas will crash. Specifically I have the old loops Sony used to offer, a lot of time I'm looking for something to mask with text or whatnot. I was able to bounce between five or six this time without it crashing but eventually *poof*

Will keep ya posted.

I was pretty happy with the last build, should I get this one?

Working well here.

Note to self: Must use Vegas Explorer MORE! Opening other Veggies from within Vegas Explorer is a dream.

Note to SCS: Can we have a THumbnail Chooser for Project? - This would make id of Veg more intuitive > Creative > Immediacy > Redux Project Cost!

Grazie

Dimipapa, if you were happy with the last build then maybe at least wait until Monday. After all, there probably won't be any tech support from SCS over the weekend.

I still have the problem of MOV files importing with an extended freezeframed video at the end of the clip but I can live with it for the moment. All the audio is there but I have to manually shorten each clip so that the video ends where the audio ends... But overall it feels quicker

Hi,

Just started testing the 563 build. It did not fix this error (occurs when selecting "Render as.." for the first time). Might be related with other "Render as..." related problems, who knows...

Cheers,

Christian

I still get the same error as Christian, and have for all VP12 releases. However, it only occurs once per VP session and does not seem to cause any problems (that we know of).

With 563 installed, try encoding a Mpeg2 HD video stream for Blu-ray authoring and monitor that output to see if you do not get a pronounced colorshift across the entire color spectrum of the video from the original source.
vkmast wrote on 4/6/2013, 10:59 AM
The v12 mpeg BD encoding bug referred to above was also reported as 'not fixed' here

even though SCS seem to have listed it in their known issue database before this build came out.

Hallelujah for timecode in .mov files that have it!

THANK YOU SCS!

Did a test with a 2 hour project and so far all is well.

I will have to stay with 296.10 Nvidia drivers and Windows 7 though.

The acknowledged issues with Titles & Text and OpenType fonts with postscript outlines did not get fixed in this build.

The MainConcept AVC OpenCL problems with the AMD 7950 card not being detected/used still exists. 3 weeks and no support response.

My GPU enabled hang playing my slideshow project still occurs. Gave a 900MB project to them. It is related to crop/zoom/rotate use and stutter playback and resync. No idea if they can or have tried to reproduce the problem. 5 weeks on support there. One response a few weeks ago about, try disabling other services.

My reports were certainly too soon to make this build but who knows if/when anyone else reported these items.

Way too early to tell but I can use thumbnails again and it does seems more responsive overall.
malowz wrote on 4/6/2013, 4:53 PM
the Explorer tab is now working for me. the previous build sometimes it just showed a "blank" page. restarting a few times worked. new build it's working every time
bdg wrote on 4/6/2013, 5:31 PM
It crashed Vegas once while 10% in to a big .mov render.
I turned off GPU accelleration, rebooted and then it rendered OK.
