NewBlue Motion Effects for 64bit Vegas MS

skysailor wrote on 10/19/2012, 9:07 AM
I have downloaded the trial versions (32 bit and 64 bit) of SMS12. I notice that the 32 bit version picks up all the NewBlueFX programs/plugins that I have installed and am using on my VMS HD Platinum 11.0 but the 64 bit version does not. So, if I want to upgrade to SMS12 and operate solely 64 bit is there a way to make my existing NewBlue software recognizable and usable by SMS12 64bit?
Specifically, I have NewBlue Motion Effects 2.1 installed and would like to use those effects with SMS12 64 bit.

If you bought your NB FX direct from NB, then go to their homepage and download the new installer. I believe that you would need to to upgrade if you are to use the new GPU-enhancements though. The new installers are 32 bit and 64 bit.

I believe I originally got the NB Motion Effects bundled with Sony Vegas MS 10. Having upgraded to Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11 and then to the Movie Studio HD Platinum Suite, the Motion Effects have been there all along. Since I did not purchase Motion Effects directly from NewBlue do I have to invest/upgrade again to get them to work in SMS12?

sky,
it's most likely that you need to. From SMSP 12 Release Notes
When using the 64-bit version of Movie Studio, third-party plug-ins will work only if they are 64-bit plug-ins. Please check with the plug-in vendor for available updates.

Any products bundled with older versions of Movie Studio will be 32-bit only as all older versions of Movie Studio were only 32-bit. So if you use the 64-bit version of Movie Studio 12, these will not show up.

If you have any retail products installed, just make sure the 64-bit version is installed. You simply need to re-run the installer and make sure you install the 64-bit version. As you've indicated you have version 2.1 installed, you may need to install version 2.4 instead. Please check with NewBlueFX to get the proper download file. The current version on the NewBlue website is version 3.0.

Thanks very much for the information. I will follow up on it. Cheers.

I just purchased MSP Suite 12.0 which includes the NewBlue Motion Effects. As Sony states MSP is 64bit, why do they advertise this plug is included if it will only work with the 32bit MSP 12.0?

If it's in the release notes, that's not in the right place to warn the consumer before buying.

I don't mean to sound negative, but I wanted 64bit MSP and the NewBlue effects. Is there a way to make these work together?

Thanks,
Ron

There's probably an answer that has been posted regarding this (hint hint -- Search), but I believe you'll have to install the 32 bit version of MSP12, render out the video with the effects and use the resultant file in the 64 bit version.

I agree, though, that the fine print regarding the "limitations" of the plugins bitness isn't more conspicuous.

Ron,

I haven't moved to 64 bit yet, BUT, I would echo MSmart's "Search" suggestion. I believe that the NB FX included with VMS12 come with both 32 bit and 64 bit installers. The NB FX included with prior versions are 32 bit only and hence, won't show up as per the guidance described above (or below depending on your forum settings).

jetdv states this
The TitlerEx installer contains both the 32-bit and 64-bit version. We've also discovered an installer issue if you are using a 32-bit OS that will cause the "missing titler.dll" error. Start a help ticket at newbluefx.com and I can help you with that error.

There's a new installer that properly installs the 32-bit version. You can find it here:

Any updated version for 64 bit?

Any updated version of what? All our retail products work with 64-bit Vegas.

I've tried installing NewBlueSonyVegasMSPPS12Setup14-121019.exe and it wont install....

Error: "Cant find vegas movie studio hd platinum 12 on this computer"

I've installed in my computer Movie Studio Platinum 12 build 576 64 bit, thats the reason I thought that NewBlue file was a 32 bit version.....

Please try this version to fix the "Movie Studio Not found" issue:
