“Not Sony anymore”

Yes, it is common to say here it is not Sony anymore. But you should see the for saying it.

I tell my grandchildren all the time. Just ‘cause “everybody's doin’ it” , it’s not necessarily a good idea.

There's actually someone on UToob commenting that vid: "No such thing as Sony Vegas 15 etc", so we're not alone. Luckily it's not a video from MAGIX.

Yes, I am the someone who wrote No such thing, etc (my YT user name is RustyTube). The link I posted in my OP goes straight to the reply I got for that comment, unfortunately this forum seems to assume any link to YouTube is to show a video, so instead of showing the discussion I had there, it shows the video itself.

Anyway, the author of the video replied to me that he keeps calling it Sony Vegas because his subscribers know it as such. What really annoyed me when someone else said he had Sony Vegas 15 and that I should look it up. I see he has since edited it to say he has Vegas Pro 15.

Thanks for clarifying.

Unfortunately I see this a good amount on YouTube. Various people are used to it being called Sony Vegas Pro so that’s the name they stick with. But if someone does correct you and updates you on what’s happened, with Sony selling the VEGAS product line to Magix, it’d be rather ridiculous of you to ignore that and still call it as though Sony still owns it. You can get around any confusion by just dropping the brand Sony from the name and just calling it VEGAS Pro or VEGAS Movie Studio in your YouTube channel tutorials. People will actually still know what software you’re refering to.
