Try resetting Vegas Pro 17 back to its default (factory) settings by following the procedure given in:

hey! thanks! but that dosnt seem to work, like when i hold shift and control, and open the program, the  "Do you want to reset all preferences to default values?" doesn't show up... rather i get "do you want this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your devise"?

Maybe because there was never a product called Sony Vegas Pro 17? Also, you can add a screenshot to your message by clicking on the "up arrow" in the blue circle.

@Former user I don't travel to links I don't know. You can easily add an image to your post, as I posted in my message above.

And if the program says Vegas Pro 17.0, where do you get Sony?

That screen shot looks like Windows is warning you that the download is sourced from a dodgy and unreliable .exe file.

Let's be upfront here - did you legally buy Vegas Pro 17 from Vegas/Magix or obtain Vegas Pro 17 - paid or not - from a pirate/cracked website? At the moment, from the information that you have given, it looks like the latter.

@Dexcon wait... vegas dont have a free version?.. i followed a online tutorial about how to get it for free.. did i do something bad/wrong?..

and what did you mean by "At the moment, from the information that you have given, it looks like the latter."

Reyfox wrote on 8/19/2022, 8:03 AM

No. Vegas Pro has never been free. And if you have a free copy, it's a crack/illegal copy. All one would have to do is go to the VEGAS website and scroll down to the bottom.

vegas dont have a free version?

Only a trial version, but the availability of the Vegas Pro 17 trial version - which only had a 30 days window - would have ended when Vegas Pro 18 was released - and that's some 2 years ago.

Otherwise, there is no 'free' version of Vegas Pro - any version - other than that offered by websites offering pirated copies of Vegas Pro - and they still incorrectly name it Sony Vegas Pro - which is what you have called it.

what did you mean by "At the moment, from the information that you have given, it looks like the latter."

Exactly that. It looks like that you have probably unintentionally entered the world of pirated software.

With that Windows warning, Windows is trying to prevent you from installing a dodgy software program that is likely to have unwanted added extras like viruses, data scanning and computer take-overs included as a bonus.

@Former user I don't get the 'reset all preferences to default values' option either, i think it's because i'm doing Ctrl+Shift+click from the taskbar, i have no desktop icon but the difference with my paid version is the image that pops up is blue with different writing, not a yellow warning

Can you share a link to the video you mentioned 'i followed a online tutorial about how to get it for free'.?

You must have known it was showing a way of how to get around the system?

Former user wrote on 8/19/2022, 9:32 AM

@Former user so you have the same thing, like the same popup, do you know how to fix that? or like what do you do when you have to reset the appearance inside Vegas?

aslo. the vidoe, yes i had some suspusion, i heard Vegas costs like 300 dollars (i thought) so i looked up on YouTube how to get it for free, i thought it was suspicious but all the comments where nice and like said that the video was helpful..

i looked through my YouTube logg and i cant find the video, i don't remember what it was called but it was pretty basic, like easy searecble

(aslo, sorry about spelling mistakes...)
