That's what Trials are for.

songsj wrote on 2/22/2017, 3:36 AM

Trial won't help me here, I don't own a 64 bit machine yet, I have to try and confirm what will or will not work before I purchase. If they won't work I am going to buy the best refurbished 32 bit machine I can find and just keep running my existing software.

If I upgrade my computer to windows 7 or 10, 64 bit and upgrade to Vegas pro will I still be able to run most of my 32 bit plugins. many are Waves products. Expensive to replace for a home studio.

Yeah, rock and a hard place. I doubt people here will advise you, not wanting to provide incorrect advice. So, maybe create a list of ALL the Wave plugs and email their Support to get an inkling as to what will and won't. Pragmatically, you may well be offered 64bit updates gratis, I'd be surprised they wouldn't. There is another issue in that the Plugs maybe too old for a 64bit alternative to be offered?

One discussion that may or may not help you here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/waves-plugins-in-vegas-13--98163/

My 32-bit VSTs including iZotope and WAVES work in VP14. I tested this by changing my default VST search folder from C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\ to C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins\ and also renaming C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\ to be absolutely sure it wasn't getting used. The 32-bit "WaveShell-VST 9.3.dll" and/or "WaveShell-VST 9.61.dll" that I have in C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins seem to be doing their job fine (i.e. interfacing with the WAVES plugins in C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves).

Thanks, I'm trying to buy Edit or Pro 14 right now, having some trouble getting download activation keys. Waiting to hear from Magix

songsj wrote on 2/27/2017, 7:13 PM

Bought Edit Pro 14, and a few new waves plugins, I think my new waves shell is 9.6. I've been out of this for so long my old waves plugins are version 5.2, 32 bit. I wonder if they will install and operate in waves 9, It looked like a 32 and 64 bit WavesShell installed with the version 9 plugin's I bought. Would it hurt anything to try an install of the old ones, I do not want to screw up my new computer. Thanks.

I think it would probably be OK. I'm sure you could uninstall your new Waves plugins and start again if it goes wrong.

You have a lot of control over what is VSTs are used in the Vegas Preferences > VST Effects window. You might want to untick the 32-bit versions of your new plugins if your Audio FX plugin chooser window is showing both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of the same FX. I have a couple of 32-bit plugins in a folder that I've called C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\32-bit-not-available-as-64-bit and they still show up in Vegas.

songsj wrote on 2/27/2017, 11:51 PM

Thanks you've been a big help, also wondering if you run a new 64 bit plugin in the same FX chain as a 32bit will they conflict. I think by the time I get done I'm going to have almost everything I need/use in the new 64 bit. I keep hoping the restoration package goes on sale. I have found it very helpful in past years when you need it but 750.00 is a bit steep.

I just tried a 32-bit iZotope Vinyl VST followed by 2 x Waves RVox Mono VSTs; One delivered by 64-bit WavesShell dll(s) in C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\ and the other delivered by 32-bit WaveShell dll(s) in C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins\. They all work. The 2nd duplicate FX gets a "(2)" after it in the plugin chooser window. My Waves dll files themselves are actually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves so I guess they must be 32-bit. So I can't totally reassure you that it will all work in your situation.

Note that Vegas still does not support VST3 plugins.

Bummer, I bought the Gold bundle and 2 others and Waves Central says they have installed and activated but they do not show up in Edit pro FX chooser. Re-installed it a few times no luck I'm surprised because when I did this yesterday for the firs time others installed and worked fine. This is taking more time than I have I forgot how these can be time burners. Feel really stupid after a little reading all I had to do was go into vegas preferences and refresh the vst, close and reopen Vegas and there they were. I swear I am getting too old for this. When I get this system up and running all I'm going to do is make music .

NickHope wrote on 2/28/2017, 7:23 PM

Glad you got it working in the end anyway.

I'm curious... Are your new Waves plgins in C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\ or in C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\?

Also what versions of WaveShell-VST ***.dll do you have in C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins\ and C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\? (or perhaps in same path with "Steinberg" in the middle of it)

I will check in the morning for you and let you know.

Wow no VST3 plugin support, There goes Antares 8. I wonder if my old version 5. something will work.

wwjd wrote on 3/1/2017, 9:51 AM

My 32 and 64 bit AUDIO VST plugins all work fine in 64bit VP14. NONE of my 32bit "VIDEO" plugins worked in 64bit versions of Vegas 13. I had to replace those, and thus don't have them to test in 14 :(

songsj wrote on 3/3/2017, 10:43 PM

Nick, to answer your question I am showing Program files x86 and waveshell 9.6_x64.dll No Steinberg that I could see. Hope that is what yo are looking for.
