Picture in Picture making an extra square I can't do anything to.

I am a personal trainer and make videos for my clients, subscription services and social media on the daily. Two days ago, my picture in picture started malfunctioning. Whenever I import an image to place over my videos it creates a small square cut out of the middle of that image and sets it to the middle of the screen. I can't select this square and changing things with the image file doesn't do anything to the stand alone square. I even tried deleting the Picture in Picture track then adding another video track in but no matter what video track its in the picture in picture tool keeps creating that square.

I work on an Acer Nitro 5.

Try resetting software to default settings. Follow the instructions closely. (They apply to your MSP as well.)

@vkmast: It looks like the "Split Screen View" button is engaged with the "FX Bypassed" option -- if Movie Studio has that feature. Probably has to enable Power User mode and see if that button appears above the preview screen -- toggle it off.

@Tim L that button has been included in Movie Studio Platinum versions since v.14.

Advice in one of Nick's FAQs, section 1.

Interestingly, he has Toolbar (and Status Bar) hidden so he cannot use that button . He might right-click on the Preview window to enable.
