Platinum version 12 suite OEM version?? no extras?

techmuso wrote on 4/23/2013, 3:16 PM
hi! is Sony selling an OEM version of this software which does NOT come with the full features?? this doesn't seem right... I'm wondering because I bought it from an online store and received only a single DVD in a slip=sleeve....I didn't get any of the extras which I thought are part of the SUITE (which I'm assuming are supposed to come on the second disc)......On the website I bought it from they talk about the extras but none of them are here...can somebody help me with this?

techmuso,
I'd contact the seller.
You saw an example in the other thread you responded to

The trick here is to look at the product dimensions. If it states
0.1 x 19 x 13.6 cm ; 32 g
avoid it. This will be the OEM version.

Look for one that states
13.7 x 2.9 x 19 cm ; 77 g

You'll probably have to pay extra for it though.

hi! thanks for the replies...I've contacted the seller...they seem to be quite sneaky...they've now changed their description and removed mention of what exactly you get with their OEM version---before it clearly stated you get the Red Giant extra and the Sony royalty-free files....luckily I've made a screenshot BEFORE they did this...and Google cached the page before their change...hope they can resolve this properly.

To add to above, I just found this 'upgrade option' in My Account / My Software
(even though I have registered the MSPS 12 "full")

Upgrade MSPS OEM to MSPS Full Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 and DVD A Studio 5 seem to be in the OEM.

Those considering to purchase a version of MSP "12 Suite" would do well to take note of e.g. the Jack S post.

it seems like Sony just realized they were selling an OEM version or something?...all this "Upgrade to MSPS Full" stuff seems new...seems like a scam if you ask me....in any OEM version, it should be stated you are not getting the full version!!!!.....the product i have in my hand has "MOVIE STUDIO PLATINUM SUITE" printed on the front of it....not "MOVIE STUDIO PLATINUM"..therefore, I want the product which Sony advertises on their site under this name...a customer doesnt care what the difference is between OEM and non-OEM...

>>>.in any OEM version, it should be stated you are not getting the full version
muso,
you're right of course. Some of the resellers are clearly advertising the OEM with the full version specs. SCS should make a clear distinction and list what's in the OEM in their comparison tables and product pages. Your heading in this thread is probably right. As above said, the packaging (slip sleeve vs. box) is about the only clue at the moment.

I though I was buying the "Flatpack" Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite 12 but got sent an OEM version with a single CD!

You need to complain to your retailer that it's not the "suite" version with only one CD!

I did and was given a code to download the rest of the suite from...

Good luck.
