Problems when rendering a 1080p video that lasts over 5 mins

Guyper wrote on 11/23/2016, 4:58 AM

This message pops up once the Mainconcept AVC MP4 rendering is finished

"error occurred while creating media file"

The rendering is fine if I render it as 720P though.

I did some research, and people said to choose "Render Using CPU only" on encode mode

The problem is that my Vegas is version 10, and I don't see the encode mode option in custom settings

Thanks

Encode mode options (GPU acceleration) are not available in VP10.

Do you have enough disk space on the drive you're rendering to?

Yes, about 500gb free space.

Have you tested the VP10 template options under Sony AVC?

Could it be your computer is overheating? Have you vaccuumed out the dust lately?

Now that I re-read the original question, heating is likely not the problem. It sounds like the render is finishing, but Vegas is having trouble renaming a temporary file. Do all of your disk drives have available space?

Nevermind. I took vkmast's Sony AVC suggestion, and it works now.

But what's the main difference between "Mainconcept AVC" and "Sony AVC"? Which one is better when it comes to output MP4?

There's not a great difference. Mostly it comes down to the bit rate you choose. You can squeeze a little more quality-per-bit out of MainConcept, especially without GPU rendering. Support for maximum resolution/frame-rates differs. I'm planning an FAQ post on improving AVC rendering very soon.
