Recommended processor/graphics card for 17.0 Platinum

I'm a longtime user of version Movie Studio 11.0. (I know, hear me out.) I tried to upgrade in 2017 to version 13.0, but I could never get it to stop crashing, so I just kept using 11.0. Then finally, based on some recommendations, I bought 17.0, and I'm having the same problem - nonstop crashes. I've tried different online tips to tweak settings to prevent crashes, but nothing seems to work.

Are there recommended or verified compatible setups (processor, memory, graphics card, etc.), especially a setup that lets you take advantage of using the graphics card GPU to speed up renders? It seems a little excessive to buy/build a new system just to run one program, but I'm really pushing the limits of what I can do in 11.0.

FWIW, I have an HP Spectre laptop with an Intel Core i7-8550U quad-core CPU (1.8GHz), 16GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 1GB RAM.

Thanks

I had a similar experience with crashing. I reached out to Magix support and after a long while, they finally found a solution for me. YMMV.

One of the crashes is in the So4 Compound plug. I would advise you to turn that off by going to the internal tab (which can be done by hold shift when going to Options < Preferences). Also, probably have you turn off GPU acceleration in the Video preferences. In 17, we would also like you to turn off GPU decoding in the File I/O tab and enable Legacy AVC decoding.
