When you say "everything I record", what exactly do you mean?
Are you using a Video Screen Capture program OR a video camera?
If you are using a Video Screen Capture program like OBS, what settings are you using?

Most video screen capture programs, have many different types of output formats you can use, to record your videos with. Some combinations may not work in Vegas, if it is using a non-standard video codec.

Share exactly what you are doing, and I'm sure we can help solve the problem quickly for you.

I used the Vegas screen capture, and then I used OBS and changed the format to MKV as well as MP4 same problem.

@Devin-Marty No, don't give up.... Vegas is not as difficult and problematic as it currently seems, a lot of us here are more than willing to help to make your editing easier, and in no time you will be quite ok.

Firstly, don't rely on the screen capture feature to record your videos and your precious moments, as a pro i don't even touch it. And don't use OBS to converter your videos. And don't convert your videos to mkv's, mp4's are far much better for working in Vegas.

I know that's a lot of don't, but for every one of them, there are far easier solutions that sits well with Vegas. You can use a decent phone to do your recordings, phone camera technologies now has come a far way or start with purchasing a basic video camera also.

As for converting videos, i often use Shutter Encoder.

I use videos recorded with obs in Vegas all the time. Can you post a screenshot or type out your video recording settings on obs? We might be able to help recommend settings that will work better in Vegas for you.

I'm just recording my game play through my screen, I did try OBS to mp4 and it brought thr clip into Vegas but there is nothing playing except the audio, I'll try to post something tonight what I'm dealing with but I can see the thumbnail of my video, so I know it captured, but when I drag it down to watch it, nothing visually plays.

I'll definitely check this out when I get off work, surprised people actually replied in here, appreciate all the tips, hopefully I can get this to work, sony Vegas was a dream to the younger me and I can finally afford it, was rather bummed when I couldn't figure it out

so here's a screenshot of my problem, i have the clip added I can play it from start to finish, and no actual video plays just the audio of the whole thing, nothing shows up in the preview window.
