refund for Steam version?

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/29/2021, 8:02 AM

hello

i have purchased the vegas movie studio platinum edition on steam few days ago,

ive used it a bit and encountered some issues such as often crashes, random glitches and freezes.

i have asked the steam support of they could refund me (since the tool is not usable )

but they said i am not eligible since i have used it for more than 2 hours (their policy)

yesterday i bought the vegas pro 18 and i have 0 issues so far.

is there a way to get a refund for my steam version of vegas pro studio?

thanks

You paid steam? 😥

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/29/2021, 8:47 AM

yes i did, and many people complained that the steam version is garbage. some said they got refunded by magix and not steam thats why i am trying my luck here...

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/29/2021, 8:47 AM

thanks for your empathy.

why is the steam version cheap but broken? is it a strategic method? like they sell a cheap version that is broken and if you want a stable version you have to 200-400 bucks?

ok thanks, i came here because their 'live chat' isnt working

thanks

Please search the forum to find Live Chat Service hours. Lots of links e.g. from me.

""Please visit www.vegascreativesoftware.com/support between 12:00 and 4:00 Central (currently GMT-5) Monday through Friday and use the chat widget in the lower-right-hand corner to chat directly with a support rep."

Don't know though how MAGIX can help if you bought through Steam. And there is no conspiracy involved. There seem to be quite a lot of Steam buyers using a VMS version.

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 3:03 AM

ok so steam just said again that they cannot do anything for me and that i have to contact magix support for any technical related questions. so steam send me to magix, lets see what magix can do .. but im done with steam, i'll never buy anything from them their support is crap.

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 3:06 AM

i dont see any 'live chat' or 'live support' page or button on vegas website, its either service center, or faq or community..

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 3:08 AM

well its ok, i got scammed, i bought a crappy vegas studio version on steam and i cannot get a refund from steam and i cannot even reach vegas/magix support. great. 30 bucks well wasted.

EricLNZ wrote on 9/30/2021, 3:24 AM

@arnaud-diaz Only 30 bucks? Which version of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum is it?

vkmast wrote on 9/30/2021, 3:35 AM

@arnaud-diaz wrote

Live Chat was available yesterday as advised in the quote in my comment. I checked several times during Service hours. If I click that blue link in my comment it takes me to the page with the Live Chat widget in the lower-right-hand corner during those hours only.

If you are not able to get to that page, VEGAS Support starts from here. A user-created tutorial here. But I think Steam has your bucks, not MAGIX/VEGAS:

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 5:39 AM

@EricLNZ VEGAS Movie Studio 17 Platinum Steam Edition and it was on sale few days ago, 30 bucks instead of 60. but its a complete garbage edition, keeps crashing and lagging, like a wish version of the real thing.

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 5:40 AM

@vkmast i know it is steam that has my money . they say if i have a technical issue i have to contact magix.

steam just lost a customer with this response; i aint buying anymore thing from their platform

im done with them

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 5:42 AM

it would be nice if in the steam storage page of magix there was someone from magix actually anwsering and helping , lol

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 5:44 AM

here's the support url given by magix on their steam support page : http://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/support/

not even working, i guess they dont want people to reach them

vkmast wrote on 9/30/2021, 6:25 AM

Your topic was "refund", that's why I mentioned the party you bought it from. But please note that I have given you working links to VEGAS support as well. If you go to the support url given by Steam, you need to select "VEGAS FAQs" from the opening (it does open) page. That's a roundabout way to reach the same VEGAS support that I linked above. Good luck.

arnaud-diaz wrote on 9/30/2021, 7:15 AM

alright, thanks alot kind sir

arnaud-diaz wrote on 10/2/2021, 12:53 AM

alright so magix responsed and told me to contact steam.

so i sent steam a new support ticket but im starting to get pissed. steam sends me to magix, magix sends me to steam

they are like ' get out we dont wanna refund you' like im a tool or something

steam definitely lost 1 customer, the pro version of vegas works perfectly fine, worth 200 bucks (sale)

but the steam version is definitely a failure version

anyway, if steam dont refund, im not buying anything on their website no more. ive spent thousands on steam and they cant even refund me 30 pathetic bucks, what kind of mindset/company is that

VEGASDerek wrote on 10/4/2021, 11:15 AM

In terms of sales on Steam, we at VEGAS Creative Software receive no user information from Steam in regards to sales, so issues such as refunds and such unfortunately must be done through Steam if that is where it was purchased from.

arnaud-diaz wrote on 10/5/2021, 3:38 AM

i understand, if you use the program for more than 2 hours then a refund isnt allowed, but they can make an exception only if the game/software you paid for is not working proprely, which is the case here. so in my case, steam refuses to refund me the vegas program that is crashing all the time. why?

arnaud-diaz wrote on 10/5/2021, 3:39 AM

steam anwser:

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

I can understand you may be disappointed with the purchase not living up to your expectations, but we are following standard refund policy for this product. As this is the case, you have accrued too much playtime to qualify for a refund. I know this is not the outcome you were expecting and for that I apologize.

Please do be aware that if you only requested a refund for your purchase from this support team they would not be able to assist. If this is the case, I would advise reaching out to them once more to request a resolution to the issue that you are experiencing over requesting a refund.

Please let me know if I can help clarify anything else.

i guess im gonna have to insist until they refund me

but im done with them thats a fact. fk their greed and stupidity

EricLNZ wrote on 10/5/2021, 4:40 AM

@arnaud-diaz I assume as you've got Vegas Pro working you are now not interested in getting your VEGAS Movie Studio 17 Platinum Steam Edition working without crashing?

arnaud-diaz wrote on 10/5/2021, 9:42 AM

no because now im using the vegas pro 18 version that is far more better than the crappy steam one.
