Registration Code...? MS17 Platinum

Gary-Oddi wrote on 3/27/2022, 3:07 PM

Greetings,
I currently have a purchased version of Movie Studio 15. I wanted to upgrade to MS 17 so I purchased it at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/vegas-movie-studio-17-platinum-windows-store-edition/9n538r61zp0t?wa=wsignin1.0&activetab=pivot:overviewtab
However, I can only run it from the icon 'pin to my taskbar'. I was expecting to be able to download/install the program and receive a registration code.
So I then downloaded MS17 Platinum from the Vegas site and installed it but it is asking for a registration code. No registration code was sent with my original purchase of MS17 Platinum. I'd like to activate the program I downloaded/installed from the Vegas site so the program is actually installed on my PC. Is it possible to get a registration code since I have purchased the MS17? The About page only shows my Desktop name.

Thanks... Gary

Greetings,

I didn't realize that it was a Microsoft store app when I purchased it. Doesn't look too promising to get a registration code. I did send my question to the Vegas support people...waiting.

Thanks... Gary

The MS Store version and normal version purchased through the Magix website are not identical. Purchasing it via the MS Store registers the application to your Microsoft account, not a Magix account and thus no traditional serial number is associated with the application.

@Gary-Oddi Can you give more specifics to the problem you are seeing? I am not clear as to the problem you are having with the MS Store version.

It was not a real problem with the Microsoft Store version. I just thought I would get a downloaded version, install it, and be able to put a shortcut to it, as I do with other purchased programs. But it is an 'app' that I had to 'pin to my taskbar', which I normally don't do. So if I get a new PC, just not sure how to handle transferring to it...but I'll figure that out when that happens. I was having a lot of problems with the 'Magix Movie Studio 2022' version, so that is why I purchased the older 'Movie Studio 17 Platinum' version, which is working fine.

I understand...you want a shortcut on the desktop. Yep...that's one of the restrictions of sandboxed applications from the Microsoft Store.
