Render selected section?

Vegas Plat Studio 2018.

There no longer seems to be a way to render only a selected section of a video. I see you can pre-render a selection, but not the final render.

Is there a reason for this? I ask because it was not my workflow to pre-render and also I find that if I try to pre-render, I get a very limited choice of formats for output.

In addition to that, there is no option to view the pre-rendered output, as there is when actually rendering. If I find the created files and play them, they have no sound.

EDIT: Strangely, although there seems to be no option to render a selection, if I change the selection size, the estimated file size changes....

Yes you can render a selected section of a video.

I've not heard of Vegas Plat Studio 2018. Are you using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 14 which is the current version?

Ah got it. It's in that little down arrow at the TLHC of the render window.

Online Help (F1): "The check box is available only if you've created a time selection in the timeline" (and see what it shows when you have).

Hmmm...I find that a little...disconcerting. No wonder I had trouble finding it, because I did peruse the Dbox's options. I would have thought there but greyed/disabled would be better.

It's greyed/disabled in Make Movie > Save it to my hard drive window (before you go to Advanced options). Available and checked if you have a time selection.

Yeah but I prefer Project Render As. Maverick. Like to make my own decisions. :) It def disappears in Project Render As. AHhhhh! Now there is an Advanced Options in Make Movie and Save to My Hard Drive. Now that looks promising.

But there seem to be some GUI consistency issues......
