Renumbering Markers?

GoldenPlates wrote on 3/9/2008, 6:37 PM
I had inserted seven markers in a video I was making. I then deleted markers # 3 and #4. Near the end of the video, I inserted another marker and it automatically was numbered #3 (instead of number 8).

I am concerned that when I use these markers as chapter points in my DVD that they will be out of sequence, as they are in my Movie Studio timeline.

Is there a way to renumber all of the markers in VMS?

Help states that markers are not renumbered as you remove them, and there is no separate option to do so.

As for the sequence of markes in DVDA...try it out :)

It would be convenient to automatically renumber them in order, but don't worry about it affecting DVD Architect Studio. When you load the markers in the project there, it will simply number them in order based on their position.

In fact, I'm not sure if DVDA/S even captures the text labels you might assign to the markers in VMS. I was thinking that it doesn't, but I might be wrong about that.

if some glitch does occur with the numbering (which I don't think it will), DVD-A actually allows you reposition the markers and add new ones within its timeline. i've done this a few times myself when the position of a marker was a few frames off as a result of me not zooming in enough when I originally set it in VMS.

Renumbering Markers? - Sony Vegas Movie Studio Forum
www.sonycreativesoftware.com

That may be true there is no way in Vegas Movie Studio but in Vegas Pro 9 here is a link that shows a trick how to do it. http://www.sonyvegas.co.uk/renumbering-chapter-markers/
You can see if Vegas Movie Studio has this feature. If not, upgrade to Vegas Pro 9.

After 6½ years? Snail mail?

To whom it may concern, renumber markers.

DVDA does not care what the marker "number" is. Just that it is a marker. The "number" of the marker does not affect DVDA in any way. In short - you do not need to renumber them and all will be fine.

As Tim L said above, in 2008.
