REQUEST: Add support for exporting 5.1 Surround Audio, Bluray + Menus

Dr Zen wrote on 5/16/2017, 3:42 AM

This is a New Feature request to be added to Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 14.
I hope one of the VEGAS developers will get eyes on this.

Vegas Movie Studio Platinum and DVD Architect Studio, have never supported the export of 5.1 Surround Sound audio, when creating a Blu-ray disc with Menus.

Now that Vegas Movie Studio Platinum and Vegas Pro both use the same version of DVD Architect, can the ability to export 5.1 Surround Sound audio be added to VMSP14 please?

I never understood why this feature was disabled in previous versions, but considering it is 2017 and audio is such an important aspect of any project, it would be absolutely amazing if you could enable this feature.
Pretty please with a cherry on top. Thank you 😍

Regards
Derek.

While I agree with Derek here, the devs' roadmap may not include adding more of what they (or higher ups) consider as "Pro" features. See here (reply to 2nd quote) and comments in some paragraphs in this Vegas Magazine article.

Just my impression of course and I've been wrong before. Often.

Considering that not many people burn discs in 2017, I think it is important to support the people that do create discs (like myself). I also use Vegas Pro, so it is not an important item for me personally, however many new Platinum users always get confused and disappointed about this one feature not being available. I'm just speaking up for the home users who don't need Vegas Pro, but love to create home movies on Blu-ray discs.

Maybe the reason has something to do with licensing fees and 5.1 support for Blu-ray increases the cost?
Just thinking out a loud.

Maybe I'm missing something here. If you take the manual route by exporting separate video and audio streams and then importing into DVDA you can do 5.1 surround audio. MS14's project properties allow it and the wave templates allow it along with lots of other options I've never heard of. And DVDA allows it. So it appears to be supported. It's just not available in the 'quick export" to disc?

I think you're missing nothing Eric.
No problem here to burn right away through the Make Movie wizzard in Vegas Movie Studio 14 platinum

Derek is pointing at the option in the wizzard to make a BD with menu.
That option is greyed out, but also that DVD option does'nt work yet waiting on an update for DVDA 7.

Importing the 5-1 surround and the video-only stream from VMS 14 Pl by hand in DVDA 7 to produce a menu based BD works good.

Thanks Eric and Cornico for expanding the information on this.
I realised after posting this message, that you can do this manually and import into DVDA 7, just like I normally do with Vegas Pro. My main concern is for the average user, who would be using the Make Movie route and expecting the wizard to work for all combinations.
