Resetting list of transitions

Jillian_A wrote on 4/12/2019, 3:47 PM

I have removed some third party add-in transitions from Movie Studio 14, but they still show in the list of transitions. If I remember correctly, there is a file I can delete which will re-set the list of transitions, etc. I normally keep a list of this sort of thing, but for the life of me I cannot find the name of the file and where it is hidden. Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Removing cannot if you don't uninstall them, because on every start Vegas is looking for installed OFX plugins and Vegas plugins.

Thanks j-v, but the effects have been removed, but Movie Studio keeps listing them and looking for them because it doesn't seem to be programmed to keep the lists updated. Again, I seem to remember they are listed in a file hidden somewhere. If you delete the file it re-generates the file based upon what it finds. Perhaps I've thinking about another editor.

Because you not saying that you uninstalled them but you deleted them, are we talking about default transitions or self made and saved transitions?

The OP did refer to "third party add-in transitions".

j-v wrote on 4/13/2019, 4:15 AM

@vkmast

Ok I changed that, but those you also can have self made ones and my question was and is "deleted or uninstalled".
But let it be I witdraw myself of further comments.

From memory they would have been New Blue transitions.

EricLNZ wrote on 4/13/2019, 5:48 AM

@Jillian_A How did you remove them? Uninstalling probably didn't remove everything. Twice I've recently found folders containing files for software I had previously removed by uninstalling.

If the transitions were New Blue and you don't have any other New Blue FX do a search for anything New Blue on your pc and delete the folders/files.

VK & Eric,

Thanks, for the suggestions. Yes, these were all NewBlue items. When I upgraded to Movie Studio and Pro 14 I had all kinds of problems and the installs completely messed up my earlier version 12s. After a lot of checking I discovered it was the NB installs that were causing the problems. I solved the problems by uninstalling everything NB using Revo Uninstaller, since it does a good job of finding hidden trash left by programs. The NB programs were gone, but they were still listed in Movie Studio and Pro, so I just ignored them.

The problem is, occasionally I accidentally click on a NB listing. In Movie Studio this causes no problem, but in Pro it immediately kills the program which happened the other day at a very bad time. So, I'm trying to get rid of the listings so I don't accidentally click on them.

Thanks again, I'll run a search and see if I can locate any left over NB items.

Update

I have found some NewBlue left overs in several places as well as in the Registry. Unfortunately, if I try to delete them Movie Studio will no longer open since it is "looking" for everything listed in its inventory. Since I haven't found a way to re-set the inventory, it looks as if I'll just have to live with the present setup.

This problem with NewBlue corrupting my system has kept me from updating to newer versions of Movie Studio or Pro, and I'll certainly never install anything else from NB.

Thanks for your help, I'm off to Europe for a month so I'll close this thread. Thanks for your help.
