return unknown error after burning DVD

Specification for my computer is AMD X4 965 processor and my DVD drive is Sony OptiArc DVD BD. I have problem burning DVD larger than 3.9 GB. I have 4 video that is less than 1 GB each. When I burned 4 vidoes with a theme that is at least 3.9 GB, it burned for a while and then stopped with an unknown error. When I deleted one video file and reduced to 3.6 GB, it worked fine. It seems that it won't burn DVD larger than 3.9 GB. It makes me wonder if that has to do with 4GB barrier. Help me fix this problem.

How much free, clean, defragmented space is on your C drive?

Are your media and project files on a second hard drive? If so, is this drive formatted NTFS or FAT32 (as they come from the factory)? FAT32 drives do indeed have a 4 gig file size limit which would indeed choke your transcoding.

I have 3 hard drives which are all NTFS. I use Drive D for preparing folder. AVailable space for D is about 680 GB. Sony program is on C drive. videos files and project files are on drive E. Hope this helps.I defrag these drives last month.

No. It doesn't sound like the obvious problem is the issue.

Particularly if you're running into the same problem no matter which drive you place your project or prepared files on.

How much free space on your C: drive?

Under Preferences > burning, where have you got your temp folder set?

Since you haven't posted your system specs in your profile, we will play 20 questions.

What O/S?
What version of DVDA?

After I installed a new DVD drive (Sony OptiArc BD 5300S), it still didn't work. I decided to defrag the hard drives again and move the TEMP folder to drive D, it finally worked!!!! I thanked you so much for the reponse. I will look at your website soon (muvpix.com) or something like that. Again, thanks!!!!

God bless,

Hello. Thanks for the response. TEMP was originally in C drive. Free space is about 200 GB out of 300 GB. I changed it to D drive and defrag. It finally worked. Again, thanks for your repsonse.

Hello. Thanks for the response. I thought I have the specs in my profile like I did with my Sony Vegas when I first installed the Sony Vegas HD on my computer and typed in the specs and others in my profile. I guess this won't retrieve my profile from Sony website. Where do I find the website so I will answer the profile. I have Windows 7. I am not sure about DVDA. I was told to defrag the hard drive. I did defrag these hard drive last month. I decided to defrag again and move the TEMP folder to D drive. Finally, it worked. Again, thanks for the response.
