Save As

stevestemplates wrote on 2/1/2017, 6:59 PM

Im running Vegas Pro 13. I wanted to "save as" a protocol aaf file to import my project into after effects. But my version does not have a "pull down" in save as...as a matter of fact the only pull down is save as .veg file. Is my version corrupted? Any thoughts? It can't be that other save as formats are not offered any more?

I thought those options were under EXPORT, not SAVE AS.

under render as?

You can only save as .veg. You can export as .aaf.

Thanks for your input.

Here's a still from a video which describes how you can save as, and it shows various choices (This is from Vegas 8...I'm using Vegas 13)

Those choices show an option for "Avid Legacy aaf file." which I was told will open in After Effects.

But, my version of Vegas 13 shows no options SAVE AS. just shows 1 option, .veg!

This screen shot shows 4 options: VEgas Project File (*.veg), EDL Text File (*txt), Edit Protocol Complian AAF File (*.aaf), and Avid Legacy AAF File (*.aaf)

Please advise.

I guess that was moved to Export. I have not seen that screen in any recent versions.

Hi David-tu. Yes in Export they have about 9 export choices. But I tried the Priemere/AfterEffects format (.prprog) but it does not accuractly transposed the tracks and layers in After Effects...or Premiere for that matter.

What's missing is the older Avid Legacy AAF file format...which is supposted to transfer into After Effects nicely?

Maybe they removed it in 13 but I have it in 12. don't know if it is the same one as before since it does not say Avid specifically.

I don’t know about 13, but it is in 14, just where I said it was:

I seriously doubt they removed it from 13 if it exists in both, 12 and 14.

Sony Vegas Pro 13 b 453 File Export

From online Help: Media Composer AAF (*.aaf): exports your project to an AAF file for use in Avid Media Composer. For more information, see "Importing and exporting AAF files."

As DaveT says, (most of) those Save As type options were not there after v.10. (V.11 had EDL)
