Saving modified presets

Hi. I like to place a 1 second black event after my projects to prevent unwanted consequences at the end of the rendered project. I drag a solid colour (black) preset from the Media Generators tab and place it at the end of my project but then I have to drag the end of the event back so it's 1 second long (it defaults to 10 seconds). I don't really mind doing this but I tried saving the preset with the duration box in the preset properties set to 1 second instead of 10. When I dragged this preset onto the timeline it was still 10 seconds long. Can anyone tell me if I'm doing anything wrong.
I have noticed that, with the 10 second long event on the timeline, changing the duration in the properties doesn't shorten it, it merely inserts notches every second.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Thanks vk. I guess I should have done a search for this topic. I must admit I never think to go to the Vegas Pro forum. I will in future.
Thanks again.
