I have a 1080P wide screen and a 50" 4K TV as my monitors. 4K is out from the AMD RX480. I tried both screens out from the 480 and had issues. Then I attached the 1080P Wide Screen to the MSI motherboard and left the 4K TV attached to the 480. Not only does it work with both screens but screen capture works on the 1080P (but not 4K).

My lsecond screen is just a 1080 panel. The outs on my laptop are a type C and an HDMI. I tried both and both the second screen goes black and Vegas freezes. Again Vegas 17 works fine with both outputs. When identifying the screens in the setup of Vegas18 it identifies the monitors correctly but when the image it thrown to the second screen blackness and freezing.

Update about two weeks ago I wrote to Vegas support got an incident number and waited. Today I received an email asking me to fill out a survey and hope that their solution solved my problem. They never sent anything but the survey never sent any solutions. So I am still looking for help in solving my second screen problem since Vegas help was nonexistent. Thanks

They are working on an update for VEGAS 18 that should be launching soon, so it's possible this issue may have already been resolved in that update. I'll mention you not getting a response to Gary, the product owner. You'll hear from someone soon.

It has been over a month still no help from Vegas. Any clues are they still in business?

I hope it addresses the problem

Thanks

Dave-Conner wrote on 9/16/2020, 11:47 AM

Well Vegas gave up and is issuing me a refund. So it is back to 17 for me. Sad I have been with Vegas since Sony days and version 10.

Lukasz wrote on 9/16/2020, 11:53 AM

Report this problem to asus and magix and they might do something about it. I've already reported it but it's hard to get help. The conflict is between vegas and the realtek driver.

Dave-Conner wrote on 9/16/2020, 1:57 PM

I issued a formal repair ticket and Magix did not find a fix. It works with 17 and earlier itterations but not 18.

RogerS wrote on 9/17/2020, 5:54 AM

That is too bad but at least 18 and 17 are similar. Realtek drivers will change and so will Vegas, so maybe it is not goodbye, but just goodbye for now.

Dave-Conner wrote on 9/17/2020, 6:48 AM

Thanks if it gets resolved I'll jump back.in

Any fixes for the second screen not working. I have been working in 17 no problems. I like to keep current.

Thanks

...I have been with Vegas since Sony days...

I've been with Vegas since Sonic Foundry days... (Though I haven't been actively editing videos every year.)

I seem to have the same problem, but in a larger version, I started a thread here before I saw this one:
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/preview-window-unstable-since-build-update-vegas-pro-18-build-373--125110/

Having Vegas on monitor 1 and preview on monitor 2 actually helps but doesn't solve everything.

Vegas 18 is still crashing when previewing overlapping videos events, or just when "changing" video track on preview ...
