short cut to event?

FayFen wrote on 10/28/2019, 5:46 AM

My current project is simple, I have ~70 min trimmed seminar and I need to name few people.

So before I receive the correct title for each I placed a "place holder title" at the correct time.

So I have ~10 scattered along the project.

How I can jump from one to next in order to paste the text ?

END/HOME no good, Page up/down jumps 5seconds on grid, CTRL +left/right jumps start/end as Home/End

So what do you use if you need to jump quickly from event to event?

Thank you

Ctrl.+Alt+Cursor left/right jumps from Event edge to Event edge of the selected track.

Thanks,

But this is very cumbersome as it needs 3 fingers spreading wide...

It would be much better to be assigned two letters if possible.

As an alternative you could place a marker at each title and quickly move from marker to marker with Ctrl+Left/Right.

I can't even spread my left-hand fingers that wide, so I use one of my right-hand fingers as well, which works famously.

I'm a lefty, so I can use my right hand for that but surly it's not very handy shortcut.

Then use a macro.

I'm left-handed as well and don't mind using that shortcut but of course mileages vary. And as always, Marco. offers great advice and help on the forum 🙂.

If the titles are the only events on a video track: Select first title event then use square bracket "]" or keypad "9" to jump to the next event edge on the video track. Use "[" or keypad "7" to jump back to the previous event edge on the video track. Pressing "]" first jumps to the start edge of the event, then to the end edge of it.

Yes, now your talking! , thanks PatB.

[ & ] , 7&9 does what it takes. few here needs to try it as well.

As one of the "few here", I've tried and used the numeric keypad options as well, especially if I need to trim. If I don't, I prefer Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right as I don't need that "a red bracket is displayed to indicate which event edge will be trimmed" (online Help item: "Using keyboard shortcuts to edge trim events"). (Btw, many of the "special characters", e.g. "[" and "]" don't work in VP/MSP with my non-US KB.)

I find the numeric keyboard great for fine trimming. My hands aren't as steady with a mouse trying to get a precise frame movement as they used to be.
