Simultaneous License

ericsport wrote on 8/9/2022, 11:22 AM

So I recently purchased a higher performance laptop so i could edit video on my vacation, when I activated vegas 19 pro on the laptop it said i had to deactivate the product on my home pc (which i subsequently did), i was under the impression i could have 2 simultaneous installations. Now I also had installed it on my older laptop a few months back but never got it to work i believe. I need to return the new laptop as it's way too heavy! so the issue is how do I reactivate Vegas on my home pc? I can't wait for the month to go by as I need to edit this week!

There are 2 ways:
1. Uninstall it on the old laptop, that will free that license.
2. Go to your Magix account at https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/ to your Products and deactivate this version on the old laptop.

For the Perpetual license, you can activate on two machines.

For the subscription license, you can only activate on one machine at a time.

You will need to deactivate on the laptop and then activate again on the home pc.

." How many computers can I use VEGAS Pro on?
You can use VEGAS Pro (14.0 and later) simultaneously on 2 devices. VEGAS Pro 365 can be used on 1 device at a time.

To deactivate a device, so you can activate a different one, visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."

Thank you, so if I deactivate on the laptop today will I still be able to activate it again on my home pc even though I activated the it on my laptop on July 28th? it's two weeks later, will I need to wait another 2 weeks before being able to activate it on my home pc? I can't wait that long

@ericsport, you can deactivate on the laptop today and the activate it on the home pc immediately afterwards.

so i recently renewed vegas 365

however i am very disappointed. I am away and need to use vegas pro on my laptop, it says i iwll need to de-activate my desktop version first, if i do that and then i will have to de-activate the app on this laptop when i return home to once again be allowed to use it on my desktop.

so i have another trip on the 19th, i will no longer be able to de-activate my desktop version as it won't be a month yet and thus won't be allowed to use my laptop version. This is extremely limiting!! any fix for this?

Please read again the last paragraph provided by @vkmast:

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required

The de-activation / re-activation process using your MAGIX My Account can only be used once per month, but repeating the above:

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish

Ok so still a little confused

so I can deactivate as often as I wish, but I can only reactivate once a month? like i said this would mean i wouldn't be able to activate on my laptop again for my trip later this month. am i missing something?

thanks

Dexcon wrote on 10/4/2022, 11:34 PM

Not only can you de-activate as often as you like via the Help menu, you can also activate as often as you like by starting up Vegas Pro from the taskbar icon, desktop icon or .exe file and going through the activation process. Of course, de-activation needs to take place before a new activation can occur.

After de-activating via the Help menu, start Vegas Pro on the other computer and go through the activation process. You can do this as often as you want.

In any event, the only way to activate Vegas Pro is by starting it up on your computer. The alternative process on your MAGIX My Account only provides a de-activation capability (once per month) but you cannot activate Vegas Pro from your MAGIX My Account.

so i recently renewed vegas 365...

Unless there is an exclusive feature in 365 the OP needs, @ericsport may be better off with the perpetual version where VP can be activated on two (2) PCs simultaneously,
If VP 365 was recently renewed, email Magix (sales@magix.net), and they may agree to apply the recent renewal fee the one-time purchase price to the perpetual version's cost . Magix is usually accommodating in this regard.
