Solved: MS 12 error occured while opening codec

Having trouble opeining a MS 12 project that worked fine untill I had issues with a codec from a codec pack.
Have installed different codec packs in the mean time, but to no avail. K-Lite by now.
Is there a way to know what file the codec error comes from (dialog box isn't telling anything)? Maybe in a log file?

Most of the videos in tat project have following codec:

By installing those codec packs, you may well have messed things up.

You really shouldn't need any codecs other than those that are a part of your operating system, your program and are included with the latest version of Quicktime.

A "Search" on this forum for Words "codecs", Date "Any Date" and User Name "musicvid" will also give you useful posts by musicvid like the ones in the threads below
AVI Files were working, Now they are Not
Cannot open .avi file codec error
Can't load AVI files with the link to a tutorial.

In addition, xvid requires its own codec, which should be downloaded from it's source, not as part of a "pack."

BUT YOUR FILES STILL WONT OPEN FOR EDITNG, because mp3 audio in AVI is a hack, and an amateurish one. The two were never designed to coexist. You will need to demux the audio first in AVIDemux.

Best of luck, and oh . . ., don't download content from torrent.

Thanks for the direction I needed to look at.
Removed K-Lite and installed xvid from xvid.org which solved the issue.

BTW. these where videos recorded from tape and I can't remember what tool I used to capture them, so I actually didn't realize what codec was used.
