Some help with GPU acceleration

BigGator wrote on 10/15/2018, 1:34 PM

So I'm running on a bit of an older system, but generally everything works fine.. except that rendering is SLOW. Do to a 90-minute video at 1080p/60 takes about 7hrs.

I realized that my GPU seems to not be doing anything. I've checked the logfiles, and it sees my video card as compatible (older Radeon HD 7700 - capeverde). I've enabled everything within the options, and have tried various codecs.. and can't seem to get the GPU to do anything.

Anyone have any bright ideas?

You're not telling which version of Vegas you use.
That can make a big difference and also the type of file ( codec) you are exporting to, but also that did did not tell us.

Running Platinum v15 (build 116). I've been using the MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 - rendering to 1080p, 59.94fps.

I also tried a few other codecs, including SONY AVC (which should use GPU) with no difference.

Each test I've run, the GPU only uses 2-3% of processing.

If your card meets the spefications for Vegas MS 15 you should have different possibilities with the Magix codec.
I can't give you my possibilities because I have not a Radeon, but I have Nvidia and these possibilities:

from which the Nvidia options give me much faster rendering ( with GPU)

The latest build of VMS 15 P is #146. Pls read "New Features: Support has been added for hardware rend[er]ing from qualifying AMD graphics cards to speed AVC/AAC and HEVC rendering considerably."

Definitely meets the specs... will grab the new build and see if anything is different.

Installed the new build.. and it seems to recognize the GPU now! 1min test render went from 4:10 to 1:09. WOO!
