Select the individual video piece you want to stabilized, go to tools, select Video Media FX and then you can use it. However it does not work well. Mercalli Easy is significantly better.

Hmm .. I did select the video piece, right clicked, selected Video Media FX, selected Sony Stabilize (plugin already added) ... choices are grayed out.

So, not sure what is going on...any other suggestions.

(BTW ... appreciate the help)

NIck,
pls read again D7K's post....

and/or this
The Stabilize plug-in must be applied to a clip or sub-clip as a media effect.

or Stabilizing Media (Video Clips) in Help (F1) Index
In the Project Media window, select the video you want to stabilize.

Don't use the Event FX button to add the Stabilize plug-in to an event.

Thanks that was it.

This was a lot easier to figure out in earlier versions. 8-)

I just upgraded to MovieStudio 12. I've been working with 1080 60p files from the new Sony ActionCam. (It does 60p after the software upgrade.)

I eventually figured out how to use the trimmer to stabilize a short clip, then add the clip back to the time line. The stabilized result showed in the preview window. But . . . when I rendered the result there was no stabilization.

The solution was to render the result at 60p. It's not obvious how you do this:
1. Choose the Render As option "Main Concept AVC... / Internet HD 1080p"
2. Scroll down to Customize Template
3. Set the Frame Rate to 59.94 (You must input this number yourself, it's not on the list.)
4. Name this template and SAVE it with the save icon, upper right.

Remember to uncheck the Render loop region only box . . .

I don't know why this worked. There is little support for editing 60p. One reason may be that there are few ways you can watch a 60p file.
