Sony Sound Forge Pro 10 had the same (or similar) problem and I had to carry out the following procedure to fix it:

• Open Regedit
• Find the key named ''HKEY_USERS\XXXXXX-XXXX_Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software"
• Delete the key
• Close regedit
• Soundforge now works again

In the key name above, 'XXXXX-XXXX' is a number which will be unique to your machine.

As with any editing of the registry, be very careful because there is no undo function (Ctrl Z) in the registry. It is recommended to export the folder to be edited (R click the folder) so that you have a backup that can be restored later - just in case.

Unfortunately, the elevated privileges problem kept repeating itself every 3 or 4 weeks and, if I recall correctly, Sound Forge Pro 11 also suffered from the elevated privileges problem. The problem hasn't occurred with Sound Forge Pro versions released by MAGIX.

And yes, the elevated privileges problem happens just out of the blue.

That said, many folks have experienced the 'Elevated Privilege' issue running Sound Forge 10 on a Win 10 PC. This typically happens after 'some' Windows 10 updates.
There are two routes you can follow; one is a registry tweak, the other is easier and safer, but will add a "Run as Administrator" pop-up each time Sound Forge is launched.
The registry tweak does not cause any 'run as administrator' pop-ups, but will likely need to be done again at some point. If you do not want to f_ck with the registry, run Sound Forge 10 as an administrator and live with the pop-up:
Right-click the Sound Forge 10 <.exe> launcher (or shortcut), and choose "Properties". select the 'Compatibility' tab, Under 'Privilege level', check-mark "Run this program as an Administrator". btw, there is a way to disable the 'Run as Admin' pop-up, but that is an off-topic PC procedure.

With Sound Forge Pro 10 and 11, the Run as Administrator workaround unfortunately did not work for me. The registry edit procedure that I gave above was the procedure recommended by a forum member on SCS's forum at the time.
