Sound Forge Pro 365 removed from Vegas Pro 365 subscription :-(

janndk wrote on 3/17/2022, 2:37 PM

@gary-rebholz
Here we go again. Magix/Vegas has removed my Sound Forge Pro 365 (which is a part of Vegas Pro 365 subcription), and refuses to activate the licence for the newest version of Sound Forge Pro.

Customer support: "You can continue using the Sound Forge Pro 15 version as before, you can find the programme details below. However, our recently released version Sound Forge Pro 16 is unfortunately not part of your VEGAS Pro 365 subscription."

What to do?

@janndk,....
… Regardless of that, your SOUND FORGE Pro 365 subscription will keep working as long as you keep your VEGAS 365 subscription active. So you should be able to use SOUND FORGE Pro just as you always have along with any updated features as they come. If you experience a problem with that, again please let us know. This is the product offer you subscribed to.

I'd keep using SF 15 as you paid for it and it's better than the current Audio Studio bundle. It's good they don't take it away- I was worried about that.

janndk wrote on 3/18/2022, 1:48 AM

I think Vegas lowered the subscription fee, so Sound Forge Pro was replaced with Sound Forge Audio Studio.

It was clearly promised that Vegas Pro 365 subscriptions started before the change (from SF Pro to SF Audio Studio) will keep Sound Forge Pro 365 active.

Actually they did take it away - but after a tiring correspondence with Vegas/Magix' so called customer "support" I got the Sound Forge Pro 15 back (new license).

@janndk it may often be difficult to tag gary r as there are lots of garys here. I added a tag that should work to your OP.

The latest VP perpetual version (VP-19) includes SF Audio Studio, prior, it was SF Pro. I would assume 365 to be the same.. at least for new subscriptions. I do not know about renewals.

My Vegas Pro 365 subscription is from when it was Sound Forge Pro 365. It has been very clearly promised that SF Pro 365 will be active, as long the VP 365 subscription is active.

Thank you @Granddadmd for that information. That's good to know. Hopefully that should assist the OP in his issue with MAGIX assuming that there was no break in his 365 subscription with Vegas 365.

I'm currently using Sound Forge Pro 15 with a perpetual license, as Magix removed my access to the Sound Forge Pro 365 installer.

Seems that your installer is missing too? Meaning that if you should need to remove Sound Forge Pro and install again, or need to move it to another computer, you are not able to do so. I guess this goes for all Vegas Pro 365 users.

No break and fully paid.

SOUND FORGE Pro (VEGAS Pro 365)
Valid until: 08/10/2022

Although it claims "valid", the installer got removed, and it seems that the serial number got closed also.

Hi Janndk.

VEGAS ABO 365  has only one licence

Here's my finding of upgrading

I appreciate your trying to help, but I think we are talking about two different things here. If you have Sound Forge Pro (vegas 365) installed in your computer, it probably updates automatically without any problems.

But what I can see in your "screen dump", you seem to be in the same situation as I am: you have access to Vegas Pro installer, but Sound Forge Pro installer is missing. Meaning that, if your computer crashes down, or you just need to remove Sound Forge pro from your computer, it's gone forever. You are not able to make a new installation.

@janndk

Hi Janndk

 Thank you for your feedback,

No this is not correct, SFPro 16 came out about a month ago.

Then I installed SFPRO 16 but could not activate/register it with serial number of SFPro 15.

Today it is possible, so only today released to download

If the program crashes, you can go to

https://www.magix.com/nl/support/mijn-service-center/

my agreements,

 the program can be reinstalled

Regards

Michael

I don't know how it is in Vegas Post 365, but Vegas Pro 365 installer comes with Sound Forge Audio Studio - not with Sound Forge Pro.

Sound Forge Pro 365 used to have a separate installer. It is gone.

janndk wrote on 3/21/2022, 4:00 PM

Seems i'm not going to get any response from Vegas, so i'll try Magix support once again 😒

I assume this problem concerns all Vegas Pro 365 users who started their subscription before VP19. So, i would very much like to hear from others in the same situation, how they got the problem solved? (If it got solved!?)

janndk wrote on 3/22/2022, 2:15 AM

According to Granddadmd, all you need is a Sound Forge Pro 15 installation package and it will upgrade itself.  In the meantime, save your Sound Forge Pro 15 installation package and don't delete it.

Here is the Sound Forge Pro 15 build 161 https://www.dropbox.com/s/h3lz5kw093kg2bq/SOUND_FORGE_Pro_15.0.0.161_365_DLV_US_x64_211216_23-23_BA078361_15_0_0_161.exe?dl=0 , Please save it and don't delete it.

Thanks.

Yes, exactly: Sound Forge Pro 15 365 installation package - which was removed from the account, and replaced with Sound Forge Audio Studio installer.

Got it now, and updated to SFP16 with my Sound Forge Pro 365 serial number. So, many thanks for your help! 😀👍

However, i still want the installer back on my account, in order to avoid problems in the future. So i keep in contact with Vegas/Magix until the case is fully solved.

janndk wrote on 3/22/2022, 11:55 AM

Glad to hear it solved your problem.

I thought the problem was solved - but after being in contact with Magix "support", it turns out, it is not. Quite the opposite.

To make a long story short: Magix keeps saying that Sound Forge Pro (Vegas Pro 365) is only included up to version 15.

I guess, this means practically that all Vegas Pro 365 users, who have got an update to Sound Forge Pro 16 without buying a new separate Sound Forge license for it, are using a "pirated version"? 😶

janndk wrote on 3/22/2022, 5:35 PM

I sent a summary to Magix management - in hope to get in contact with somebody who is willing and capable of finally solving this case.
