SOVLED: Marker Tool use

sonicvision wrote on 3/13/2022, 12:39 AM

Clicking on the Marker Tool icon (in top right of timeline) does nothing for me. Nothing opens. Is this a known issue, any known way to get it to work? Access from menu does work.

No problem here with Markers. Does hiting keyboard 'M' create a marker?

You might want to reset Vegas Pro back to default factory settings as per: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

It would be most helpful if you could with future posts include information about which version and build of Vegas Pro you are using. Even better, it would be great if you could include your Vegas Pro details along with your computer's specs under your forum account's My Profile. As an example, click on my Signature at the bottom of this comment. TIA.

@sonicvision - What were you expecting?

sonicvision wrote on 3/13/2022, 4:10 AM

I expect the Marker Tool icon to open the Marker list or do something with the markers. Should it not do something? Are you implying it's a pointless icon (which for me it currently appears to be) ?

@sonicvision - How so?

Should it not do something?

@sonicvision - If your Double Negative is also implying, then, IMHO - yes!

Are you implying it's a pointless icon (which for me it currently appears to be) ?

@sonicvision - We've covered this Icon over the decades. Please do a small Search on it. O..K.. here's one for you:

VASST's Marker Maker thingy works nicely for me.

@Dexcon @sonicvision, it doesn't "open" anything but it does "do something". It changes you to a mode where pressing the left/right arrows will move between markers and makes it possible to select multiple markers using keypresses. So there's nothing "visible" when pressing that button. It just changes you to the "Marker Tool" mode.

Dexcon wrote on 3/13/2022, 7:49 AM

@jetdv  ... yes, that is the intent as per the user manual but, unfortunately, nothing happens after clicking on the Marker Tool icon and then using the L/R buttons - or anything else suggested in the user manual re Marker Tool.

@jetdv - It’s a Marker SELECTION Tool. So, @sonicvision, what else would you like it to do?

@Dexcon, it does for me. Normally pressing the left/right arrows moves me along the timeline a frame (or few) at a time. Once I select a Marker and press that button, pressing the left/right arrows moves me between markers.

Former user wrote on 3/13/2022, 8:11 AM

@Dexcon It's a bit confusing but

create a few markers,

click at the very top of the timeline between 2 markers, nothing happens,

click the Marker button, it doesn't seem to do anything but then click again between the 2 markers, one marker will flash, the left/right arrow keys then work to select markers,

click on the event or below somewhere on the tracks, then click between the 2 markers & again nothing,

click the Marker button, then click between the 2 markers & one will flash again,

or click on a marker, left/right key does nothing,

click the Marker button, then click on the marker again it'll flash & the left/right keys work.

Thank you @Former user & @jetdv , your comments were helpful and now I see it working and it's use. Thanks again. Solved.

@sonicvision 👍, I wonder why this isn't an automated function when you click on a marker,

Good question, and idea, @Former user . Magix should do that and eliminate the icon.
