Stick with 10, or Upgrade to 13?

Hello.
I currently have Sony Vegas platinum 10. I have had it for several years and I enjoy working with it, but I'm considering upgrading to Sony Vegas Platinum 12 or 13. Is it worth it? After reading some reviews online, I'm not sure. They say that it is unstable and crashes. Is it worth upgrading? Or should I stick with the tried and true? Thanks for the help.

If I were you I would upgrade to 11. You should be able to find it quite cheap now and it eliminates the low memory issue that plagued V10. I've been using 11 for a long time now and it's proved to be very stable. Unless you're into 3D I don't think it's worth upgrading higher than 11 yet. Let them sort out all the potential bugs first.
I'll probably upgrade to 13 later on, the new stabiliser plug-in sounds very good.

It depends on how current your computer is and what your budget is. Did you buy the suite in 10? Do you have a fast at least 4 core computer with at least 8 gigs of ram? How about your video card, does it meet the recommendations?

If you have the right system then I see no reason not to get 13 ( cheap on the upgrade), if not then neither 12 nor 13 would be "cheap". I've been using 13 pretty heavy for 2 days and so far it is working well me. My system is not top of the line, it is a 6 core AMD and a 55XX Radon (GPU works in 13 even though it is "below" spec of 57XX).

I use ACHD/MOV/AVI from Nikon, Sony, and Olympus cameras and I have not had a problem. 13 fixes a lot of things I wanted 12 to do that it can not (see my other posts). If this was my choice I go for 13 and not look back. I use my machine mostly for PhotoshopCC/LR and the Movie studio suite and have not had any problems, but I have very few other things I run.

You can download it and try it out to see if it works for free.

Does that upgrade my old one to a trial version, or does it come differently? Thanks everyone for the help.

Mogul,
your old version is not affected. You can keep old versions installed if/when you upgrade.

Even if I but the upgrade that is half the price?

The price does not matter. You need to have a qualifying serial number (of a previous version) to upgrade and a promotional key code of the current special offer which you get if you buy it via the link in the upgrade offer email.
You can install a trial and buy the upgrade after you test. The upgrade is a full version and a whole separate installation.
