text does not show on edit.

I have successfully entered text on several occasions using the default setting. I am attempting to do this as I did before but the text does not show up in the preview box.
The outline for the text is there and no text. The colour of the text is white and the background transparent but where is the text. The text shows up when I adjust the length of the event on the text editing track but disappears when I release the marker.

Have you ensured that the timeline's playhead is over the title you are editing?

Yes it is.

I was wondering if the text track is always put over the video track - if not how do I change their relative layer - if that is possible in video.

Vegas uses a top-down view of the tracks. Track 2 is under (behind) track 1. Track 3 is behind (under) tracks 1 & 2, etc. Anything on a higher track hides what's beneath it. So, if you want the text to be visible in front of the video it has to be on a higher track than the video.

Tracks can be moved to create logical groupings at any time during a project’s creation.
See online Help (F1), Arranging Tracks, vs. 10 to 13 at least.

I have been experimenting. I was wondering if I had inadvertently set an option on Movie studio which was causing me problems. As I have tried using new project several times to see if it worked and did not change its behaviour. It did not change I still could not create a screen with text on it.

Q perhaps it doesn't start with default options - How could I know?
Q. Is the only way to be sure is to re- install MS and see what happens?

Q. do the original project title files still work.
A. Yes they do but I don't know what makes the difference between the project which does work and the one which does not.

My thought is now to copy the titling project which does work to the assembled track where it doesn't work. will the titling work then work then and allow me to adjust it to something appropriate for the complete video.

I cannot find a method to attach two working projects together. So I guess I will have to add one renedered file to another and edit the title on to the main project.

Any help with any or all of this would be very useful.

I have tried to post this latest edition of my problem on the forum without success.

I will work with your information ChienWorks and VKmast.

dongle,
have you gone through some of the tutorials re adding text?
There are the Show Me How tutorials inside the program (see Toolbar).
You'll also find tutorials under Support / Training,
like Titles and Text and Adding Titles (both in Other / All videos)
and even a webinar on Titles and Graphics.

See Chienworks' post here.

Thank you for your assistance. I have managed to create several titles since then but I can't see what I did differently.

I have tried to replicate the problem and send you some screen shots but failed.

If I do manage to replicate the problem I will try an send you some feedback.
