The Media Manager is Not Installed

Update: Installed Vegas 9 and had the same problem - Media manager is not installed.

Any suggestions?

Media Manager became an optional install with the introduction of Pro 8 because too many users complained that they didn't want it.
You can still download it on the Pro 8 page.

This is so funny! The manual says it is. The download page had nothing. The documentation said nothing about optional addition.

I hope Sony have improved the site now. Here's to all the other users laughing their heads off with me.

Guess what -- 13 years later, it's still exactly this way. No mention it isn't included, but you get an error saying it's not installed if you try to view it. Way to go, Sony.

Not understanding why you mention Sony. MAGIX acquired the VEGAS software n mid-2016.

Are you still using an OS - likely Windows 7/8.1 - from the time of Media Manager's era?

Sony Media Manager does not function correctly in Windows 10 build 1511 or later because of a Syncfusion issue. That version of Windows was end of life in 2017. However if you do have Windows 10 build 1511 or older, VEGAS Pro up to version 18 will run on it and Sony Media Manager can be enabled through the preferences or internal preferences. I have the latest version of Vegas Pro 10 installed under Windows 11.
It works good and also the Mediamanager is normal present, look

When activated ever at Sony the install file for this program is available at your Magix account

I think that the problem of the O.P. has to do with the build he used and not was the latest (738).

@j-v It's a powerful tool for finding media based on a hierarchical tree of tags. There was a fair amount of clamour from Vegas users for such a digital asset management (DAM) tool from Sony around 15-20 years ago, and it did deliver the goods. But it was never quite "fully-baked", which was a pity, and then later it was abandoned with no replacement, and finally it stopped working properly.

I keep Windows 10 build 1511 on a dual-boot partition, just for running it, because I have tens of thousands of media assets fully tagged in it, and there is nothing else really on the market that can do what Media Manager does (except perhaps some very expensive applications aimed at large businesses).
