timeline event is a solid color--how do I change it to show video

Hello! I am using Vegas Movie Studio 16. When I try to make a video, the track in the timeline is showing a solid color, not the actual video/photo of the event. What do I do to make it go back to showing the video event? The solid color is not helping me. I am not sure what I did to make it do this, but it is doing this on start up, and I can't figure out what to do to make it go back to default. And yes, I've chosen default view, and it's showing the video track as solid maroon. I have had this software for years, and for the life of me, I can't figure out what I've done to make it do this. It's also impossible to fade in/out, as the cursor is not showing the fade in/out option.

Running Movie Studio 16 on a Dell Laptop. Thanks!

There is a dropdown menu in Options > Preferences > Video to choose "Thumbnails to show in video events".

And from Help: (click to enlarge)

Thank you! What usually happens is that I ask the question, then usually shortly thereafter, I figure it out. LOL! I am not exactly sure what I did, but I adjusted a few things and when I dragged a video event into the timeline, it showed what I wanted it to show. I think it had something to do with adjusting the sizes of the timeline, the video screen, and some other things. I'm ashamed to say I have had this program for a couple of years now, and still am bewildered by most of the controls. But usually I manage to figure it out. I haven't had a lot of time to play around with the software, and what I've wanted to do, I've been able to figure it out. Anyway, thanks so much for your help!
