Titles & Text Movement Restarts in Event

RgVideo wrote on 12/21/2019, 4:48 PM

Using MSP16 latest build on Win7 laptop.

I have multiple Titles & Text events where the title moves into position from off the screen.  Doing this with keyframes in the Generated Media window.  In playing back my project, I noticed that in one event the title restarts its move from off screen a 2nd time.  Took me a while to figure out what was happening.  Noticed that there was a small upside down solid triangle on the top of event about where the restart begins.  Found out that when I stretch the event to make it longer, the triangle occurs at the old end of the event and causes the restart.

Is this normal?  If so, where in the manual is this covered?  Is there a way to stretch the event w/o this restart happening?

Thanks,
Ralph

I find when altering the length of an event that has keyframe animation I need to check the keyframes afterwards and reset them if necessary. VMS doesn't have the facility to lock keyframes to start, end etc. How they behave depends on what you do and how you do it. For example trimming an end by mouse dragging can give a different keyframe result to trimming by cutting.

See also Help item "Adjusting an event's length", especially the 1st and 6th sub-item. For extended text events I usually set Selection, right-click on the area and Insert Generated Media.

Thanks for the input.  I found out what is causing my problem and how to fix it.

The problem is not that the keyframes get moved.  It's that the keyframe duration window length does not increase when you drag the event to increase its length.  If you drag the event longer, the keyframe duration does not get longer.  So, once you reach this point (marked by triangle), the keyframe sequence repeats.  The solution is to click the Match Event Length icon in the Generated Media window after increasing the event length. Now the keyframe duration increases to the new event length, the little triangles disappear and it all works like I want!

The above is undoubtedly not new to many here, but it is to me. :)

BTW, the phrase "Match Event" is not even in the MSP16 manual.

Guess I don't have the latest version. :) Mine says Feb 05, 2019 and I just downloaded again directly from https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/downloads/ and it's the same date. Will have to search more. Thanks for the heads up.
