Trimmer Problem

pepegot1 wrote on 12/4/2011, 10:51 AM
When I open a video in the Project Media window or Event clips, I get the audio part displayed-not the video clip I want to trim. If I hit the play button, the video plays with sound. I just want the video clip to edit in total? This program is filled with obfuscation. How can I just get the video clip to edit with having to use other means?
I checked Video and Audio by right clicking in the Trimmer window but, to no avail.

In Trimmer Window, you might have the horizontal separator line all the way up and hiding the video? Try moving your mouse in the window to find the splitter to drag it down for the video to show up.

I could not find a horizontal separator. An uninstal reinstall produces the same problem. What a piece of garbage. I have to trim outside the program with VideoRedo-not too good Sony.

Right under the video.

If it's a piece of garbage, you're probably not interested in learning how to fix it.

But if you are, how about starting by telling us what model of camcorder your video came from and how you got it into your computer?

Also, which project properties do you have set in Vegas?

Also, how fast is your processor and which operating system are you using?

Firstly, let me apologize for calling it garbage. I was at it for quite awhile and got grumpy. It is a powerful program indeed but, it takes time to learn its nuances. Thank you for your quick reply. The book you wrote is indispensable to learning this program. I am much pleased with it. I am interested in learning the program.
The Trimmer I was using was outside and free floating, not like your picture. I placed the free float into place as in your picture and it work fine. I then pulled it out and it works fine in free float mode. Something probably got jammed and needed to be reset.
I have a Sandy Bridge i7, 64 bit machine with 16 gigs of ram-just what is needed for Blu Ray authoring with a Panny TM900 camcorder. I noticed that rendering took forever, using SONY AVCHD but, the Mainconcept codec was fast and that's what I will use. I do not use the Blu Ray settings on the New Project start up screen. I use AVCHD instead.
Also, how can I make an attachment as you did. I did not see any means to do so on my screen?
