Two Tricks

Thought these might be useful for others

- but now realise I've forgotten "how" I did them....

1) Add file numbers to Time-line clips
- this saves having to look for "Properties" when checking which clip is showing. ( Previously In "Review" you may have spotted a better version ),
-the downside is the Number Panels stick to the Left-hand upper start of each clip, so a Fade-in can be difficult to see.

2) Save HDD space- by loading proxies into yr Project Folder ( e.g Holiday 2014 / =last year) - - - - see below - - - , but having done it one I forgot about it ( Habits of a lifetime to make a full copy ), however, this means the Project Folders are duplicating a lot of the same HDD. - Of course if the Media was External, there may be a Case for making a full copy.

Just realised.... when you Copy from yr "Master Copy" use the "Create Shortcut" option, this means the Project Folder will contain quite small file-references to the Master Copy, saving your HDD, since Video uses large amounts of space.

That's it.
+If you already know, it doesn't apply.

1) View > Active Take Information

2) Render As output folder change help

\Thanks vkmast - yr reply #1 is exactly how I did it . . . I will put that on a Post-It note somewhere. Thanks.

However reply #2 is about Render settings, whereas my "Tip" was about saving HDD space when organising clips - i.e. prior to the EDIT/Render process.
I discovered this as my second HDD was getting full and I could see that with the number of sessions increasing the "Master-Copy" folder would soon overwhelm the HDD if the various "Project folders copied most of the Media.
Unfortunately my MBO has no more SATA connections, so I'd have to install another PCI-card to add Storage, although kind folks have suggested External HDDs, I need to disconnect them when moving the PC for "domestic reasons" - whereas internal HDD remain put.

By using the "Create Shortcut" technique, Project Folders appear to hold all the required Media-Clips, while using very little HDD space.
Sorry if I didn't make that reasonable clearer.

Sorry. I assumed that by 'proxies' you were referring to proxy files in 2).
